Oh, neuromodulating current, now I get it.

I thought about you when I saw this on AVweb. It seems the pilot community is touting this up as something viable. If it didn't work for you, Sam, then it probably doesn't. Personally, I have been lucky. In all my ocean travels while commercial diving, track stuff and flying I have never had a bad experience. However, my inner ears aren't what they used to be.

If you must have one, replace passenger with one that does not get sick, and preferably a bit lighter too.

It is amazing what 250 pounder does to your lap time. However, one never knows who might want a ride at the track. I usually try to explain the track line and how to look way, way down the line to my riders but it doesn't always work. I have had to pull off the track from time to time because they get a little queezy. But a heads up, they usually won't say anything unless you ask during the session. Be aware, be very aware..

I have had motion sickness since a kid. I have tried everything and the only thing that has worked is promethazine (Phenergan). I take a tab at breakfast before the event and one at lunch and no sickness.

I recently read that a few pimento olives will work and I intend to try it at the next event.

Or do what I do: close your eyes. That way you don't get sick, and you can't see death coming in the form of the next wipe-out...

I have a weak stomach, and have found that taking one ginger pill in the morning is pretty darn effective for the whole day. Once I tried taking another pill at the lunch break and it was too much; stomach was riled up the rest of the day.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Yup, I've made a couple of instructors sick. I not sure what that says about my driving style but i doubt that is very good.

Instructors must have it tough since they don't know what the student is going to actually do next and they spend a relatively high percentage of the track time looking at the student rather that the track ahead.

My object this season is not make anyone throw up in my Z!

Sam We all know that for those olives to work they must be immersed in a martini. nICE TRY.

Look at the bright side, she will not complain about maintenance and upgrade expenses!

I have made one passenger look shell-shocked after a ride, but not sick. Not that I am unorthodox, but when I instruct, I tell people "do as I say, not as I do!" Your results may vary, but following me might land you on a trailer.

Default motion sickness

I take a topical syringe of promethazine 25mg/0.1ml (phenergan)
at the start of DE i do two things
Pull on the harness of the passenger, and show them where to pull down on the sholder straps.

second i ask them to tell me or tap my arm if they are going to puke.

Last month at Texas world speedway.. was 1 for 3 passengers. Put some Prometh on their collar bone and the symptoms are gone.. don't get it on ur fingers or u will absorb it..

It is a prescription compounded drug. Get a script for 1-2 syringes ~$8 ea and keep in your medicine bag..

After instructing for almost 20 years now, the biggest thing I found to help with any of those issues is simply to keep your head and eyes up, avoid big meals during the day, and stay hydrated. It also helps to have SMOOTH students!!!

Keeping your eyes up will limit the sensation of speed and help turn those "esses" into straight lines.

Always having some food in my stomach seems to help. If I go into a car without any food, I am done for.
