Wanna do mine? I've still got the heater core and blower in there.
I only have enough OCDness to do one Getting all that foam off the wires and re-taping them and re-routing anything non-essential made a huge difference.
If I knew anything about EE I'd have started cutting, but then I'd probably open Pandora's box of electrical gremlins.
The HVAC box and dash are very heavy... I had cut much off of the dash earlier in my build and had the heater core and evap unit out of the HVAC box... I had it in place as a blower motor only. Even with the trimming they were still heavy taking them out.
HVAC is a serious PITA. Sawzall, cut-off wheel, and BFH only make it possible, not easy.
I didn't have to cut or beat anything. For once I read the service manual before I tackled something. It instructs you to remove the blower fan from the assembly first. It's 3 screws and 2 electrical connectors. once that's removed the entire HVAC assembly pulls out... assuming you've already unhooked the AC/coolant lines in the engine bay and removed the 2 bay-side 10mm nuts. All much easier w/ the intake manifold off.
Well I cut up the dash earlier in the build so no on that, I cut open the HVAC box to remove the heater core and evap core, so no on that too. The dual zone climate control works perfectly so that has some value
