Default removing hubs???

I am replacing my hubs with the SKF hubs. Having a hard time with the third torx screw on the hub. Is the only way to pop the knuckle out?

If it's never been apart that probably won't work... it's never worked for me on the first go. Once they've been apart once it will work.

Go to Autozone, check out their pitman puller, use that to put some load on the ball joint stud, then hit it with a hammer. That's worked every time for me.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Remove the nut from the lower ball joint.

Put a floor jack under rim of the hub. Jack it up a bit so that some load is on the jack pad. Hit the lower control arm where the ball joint bolt goes through it with a 3# hammer.

It will pop loose very easily.

I just loosen the nut, leave a few threads holding and smack the nut with a 5lb hammer.

as sperkins says, hit the NUT not the bolt (ball joint) or you'll damage the threads.

Are you smacking the hammer on a 2X4 or directly on the LCA?

Directly on the nut; if you use a piece of wood you'll soften the shock wave the hammer sends through the ball joint stud.

Thank you everyone for the quick feedback. I bought a 3lbs small grip hammer and will try to knock it out tomorrow. Too tired today.
