Default Problem when the Stoptech brakes get wet!!!

Ok, soon after installing my Stoptechs I discovered that if I was too aggressive cleaning the wheels at a high pressure car wash the anti-lock would come on at parking lot speeds. Is that just water getting into the anti-lock hub sensor because of the design of the rotor's hat?

Now today was the first time I've driven in heavy rain, and the normally very firm pedal became mushy. The C6 still stopped but it took much more pedal pressure and travel.

What's going on?

sounds more like a pad issue..... Nothing about the Stoptech design should cause a problem. I've raced in torrential downpours with them, worked fine.

Thanks David.

The pedal was still soft today. I'm using the red "low dust" pads. These pads are also wearing a grove in the bottom of the rotor just above the hat. I'm going to have East Coast Supercharging give them an inspection while doing other work this week.

It's all very strange.

The groove just above the hat is normal. It's caused by brake pad residue building up in that area. It's nothing to worry about.

Have you cooked them on track recently?

Nope. I have maybe 2,000 miles on these pads and fluid. When I left Saturday the pedal was firm like it should be with a stiff caliper and SS lines. Then the pedal went soft on me, taking longer travel and more pressure to stop the car. Maybe the rain was a coincidence.

Bet those brake pads are glazed over. Take them apart an look at the pads.
use sand paper on the pads to get you by untillyou can get new ones.

For get those low dust pads, they just do not stop well.

Should I re-bed them? It's been awhile since they had serious heat in them.
