Default Ok to remove ABS sensor bracket behind the hubs?

**Update - See post #11**

Installing the Quantum front brake duct kit on my C5.
The directions call for cutting the ABS sensor bracket and relocating the sensor. I have the hubs off anyway so I was considering just removing the brackets all together. I know it's a floating caliper, but I just want to make sure it doesn't misalign anything and that's it's ok to bolt the hub directly to the aluminum spindle. The brackets measure .064" each. Thoughts?

That's my gut feeling too, but just want to make sure. When I did the e-brake delete, I bought and installed a couple of the smaller front ABS brackets to mount the sensor. Guess I could have just zip tied it.

if you ever go to a fixed caliper (Stoptech etc) you need to be careful centering the rotor on the caliper. If the Aluminum duct is thicker than the OEM ABS bracket, it will push the caliper out, or vice versa. Anyway, you have to be careful if you swap calipers, and shim if necessary. Floating Calipers don't care.

Update. I removed the bracket and reinstalled the hub on one side only for now. The clearance between the lower hub bolt and the back of the wheel studs is very close. I measured it at .0415"
Is that enough? Not sure how much the bearing flexes.

Cut and re-thread the bolt if you're worried. On my setup I put the front sensor brackets on the rear since I deleted the parking brake.

On the front the ECS spindle ducts go in between the hub and spindle so I just clipped the ABS sensor to a zip-tie and it's worked perfectly...

Front setup... you can just see the blue in the sensor...

Well through trial and error I now know that the front ABS sensor brackets cannot be removed on a C5. After removing them and reassembling everything, the outer edge of the rotor touches the caliper bracket. I had to remove both hubs again and reinstall the brackets so the wheels would spin free.

You need the ECS spindle duct kit... it fits in between the hub and spindle and takes the place of the sensor bracket.

Don't think I'm going to take everything apart for a third time.
The quantum kit is really nice. There's no need to remove the hubs at all. I just did it because I had to swap a bad RF bearing.

I just installed the drm/quantum duct kit on my car this week as well. I removed that bracket as well.

The problem I see is the quantum duct does not fit over the drm duct. How the heck do you attach the duct?

Depends on what size hose you have. My hose was 4"dia.
I wrapped the end in duct tape to give it a little strength and twisted it over the DRM duct. Then I ran 2 coarse sheet metal screws through the hose and into the duct to help keep it from slipping off.

strange for some reason mine came with a 3.5" diameter duct. I called quantum and they said that the drm can be crimped a bit or to cut a little slit to crimp it. Then to slide the 3.5" on it.

anyone else do this? doesn't seem right

Anyone come up with the solution? I'm about to install the quantum kit.

DRM ducts have a 3.5" OD. Quantum spindle duct has a 3.0" OD.

Instead of mangling hose, I'm thinking about some kind of adapter, 3.5" ID on DRM side, 3.0" OD on hose side. Then buy 3.0" hose to run to the spindle....

I looked for a 3.5 > 3 in adapter at local hardware stores and couldn't find one. So I built my own. I took a piece of 3" OD tubing about 4 in long (I used exhaust pipe but you could use PVC) and wrapped one end with tape, to build up its outside diameter. (I used heat reflective tape, the kind that is sticky on one side and silver on the other. But good old duct tape would work). Been working like a charm for 3 years now.
