NASA TTU - Texas
Had a great weekend running NASA TTU at Texas World Speedway. The famous Doug Rippie car of Troy's was there, along with the smoking fast C5 of Joe's (He may have set the track record this weekend) and John Page of 21st Century Cars.
Saturday - First run of the day
Sunday - Finally ran a best of 1.49.8
Will post up some pictures soon.

Thanks for sharing these. Glad to see you have your car together. Looks like fun. Nice drive! Maybe I will get motivated and finish my car. I actually just pulled my motor out of my FRC from the top after seeing your post.
Jvettehead, great drive. Those speeds without a cage is ballzy! I know alot of the TT guys do this though.

Congrats on some greats runs! You guys are FAST!
I was there also on Saturday only, but I stepped down and ran with the HPDE3 group. I've been out of action for 5 months due to surgery and I decided to run with these guys to sort of "walk before I run" to test both the body and the car. Man, I may stay here after seeing the times you guys in TTU were turning! LOL.

Even the TTA times were very low. The winner both days was down in the 1:55 range. Around a 2.9 mile track, with no aero and 8.7:1 horsepower to weight, that's very fast.
For those of you that want to run a basically stock car, I highly encourage you to come out and give TTA a try. It's a whole different game than DE, when you start putting a clock on it. Also different from racing, since we're trying for a perfect lap, rather than to beat another car.

All the cars that I have seen have full aero work. along with dry sumps. I am currently 576 HP pulling 3318 total weight. Most of the cars are running considerable less HP and weight. Mt car for example has most of the interior still intaact and one car is around 400 HP with a sequential shift transmission, and taking a penalty for running slicks. Besides that car, everyone is running Hoosier A6's. And it appears that a fresh set is worth almost 2 seconds lap time...
My next mods are losing a little more weight and detuning the car.Not only for performance, but brake/tire/engine life as well.
After running dirt cars for 15 years, it was a pleasure to meet up with the guys running TTU in Texas. I couldn't have met a nicer and competitive group of guys. Can't wait till Hallett in a few weeks.

In TTA, you have to worry about wt/hp AND a complex points system for mods. Basically, if you want to keep it simple, a TTA corvette is minor mods like sway bars and perhaps an intake and headers, and good tires. Good tires means Hoosier R6 or A6 to be competitive, and the A6 fall off really, really fast. If you're the sort of driver that can get their good lap on command, they will work for you. If you need time to learn the tracks, use R6. They are only a little slower and don't wear down near as fast. Remember, with the A6, you're basically using an autocross tire on a road course. It's going to give up fast on these long Texas tracks.
