If you are still running the stock Corvette differential, with plates, you need the Limited Slip additive.

If you are running a Quaife differential, like I am, you do not need an additive.

You can buy it with and without the additive. I buy the lube with the additive and do not add more.

With the older Gm fluid you need the additive. With the new Dextron LS fluid you do not use the additive.

I have a stock 3:24 GM differential and am running the M1 75-90 synthetic with the bottle of the GM addative. Have over 15K trouble free track miles on the car. Use the addative - it's only $12, why sweat it.

Use the additive as a tuning aid. My old GM diff. only required one bottle to get my desired results. The new one requires two bottles.

It depends on what oil you use and what differential you have. On my stock C4 diff, and I know stock C5 diffs there is no extra additive needed when using Amsoil's 75W90 gear lube

However, since GM changed the clutch packs in the C6 diff some extra additive is needed.

The C6 diff definitely need the additive, the question may more appropriately be if it needs more than comes in most gear lubes today. Many gear lubes today including the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75w90 listed above already come with modifier in them. Adding extra to prevent diff chatter seems to be needed for the C6. However, I might not add extra right off the bat for a track day car. Having too much modifier may result in your limited slip diff being less limited slip (meaning more open), thus you will get less torque to the outer weight tire with grip, which will make your car a little slower than it might otherwise be out of those high g slow corners.

I think I'd get additive such as the one listed above and keep it handy and only add extra if my diff did indeed chatter.

stock c5 z06 rear with amsoil's severe gear. No extra additive for me. Just do the change and take it to a parking lot and do a bunch of slow figure 8's. No grinding, binding, or chatter, you should be good to go. If yes, then get a little additive and add a little at a time until it's quiet.

GM Dexron 88862624 is the updated fluid to fix the C6 chattering issues, already comes with the additive in it. No reason to run anything else, this stuff holds up great.
