Front Rims on Z06/Grand Sport
I wanted to go to 18x10.5 rims for the front and was wondering how bad the rubbing is on the inside with that size rim? I dont want to go to CCW (don't have that kind of money) so I was wondering what people are doing out there for there Z06/GS with this size of rim and the lack of good offsets? Wheel spacers (if so what brand/kind do you recommend) or just live with the rubbing on the inside (specifically mine rubs on the Z06 brake duct).
Thanks

I just ordered 18x10 fronts (CCW) for my GS, and I know many guys run 18x11/18x13 on their Z06/GS widebody cars. Not sure how bad the ducts will get scraped up with 10/10.5/11s compared to stock.

The Z06 brake ducts are thin walled plastic tubes so that is not an option. It actually rubs on the flattened spot of the duct so i couldn't even heat it up and crush it down some more, then no air would get thru there.

Here is a little more info for everybody, currently I am waiting for the rest of my wide body parts and have the following:
1. 18x9.5 rims with a 57mm offset
2. 3/8 inch spacer
3. The rubbing is very slight right now but you can see it at full crank with a tape marker I used
4. So, if I go with a 10.5 rim (everybody only sells at high 50mm's offsets) after the wide body is installed it is going to really rub.
Hopefully that clears thing up. I dont know jack about all these different kinds of spacers and if they are safe. I see hubcentric, lugcentric, and between those there are straight thru kinds and kinds that look like you use your studs to bolt to the spacer then another set of studs are offset to use for the rim I guess. Who knows.
Anyway, hopefully someone out there that has this setup will chime in, I know not everyone can be using CCW.
Thanks guys

You are going to rub at full lock, don't worry about it. Everyone does.
Do a 3 point turn in the pits instead of cranking it all the way. You only need to address rubbing on track.
If you are at full lock on the track at speed, you have way more problems than a little rub.
If you run shorter tires (30 series) you may not rub so much.
Say a6 with 285/30/18 and 315 or 335/30/18.

I just ordered 18x10.5 with a 57mm offset. I plan on using a 1/4"-3/8" spacer and running a 315/30/18 A6. I am not concerned with a little rub at full lock because that's easy to avoid. I will let you know how it turns out in a week or so.

Do you expect the 315's to stick outside the fender? If so, how much? I look forward to the info.

OEM 18x10.5 C5Z06rears work fine on the front, may require a 1/8" spacer in some cases. They sit in more than the OEM wheels, and look a little goofy, but work well. If you have longer studs, you could easily space them out for a proper stance.

Would a 305 really sit in more than stock? It is 30mm bigger than stock, so 15 on each side of center so it should even out I would think?

I think what david meant is that the offset of the wheel is different so the wheel would sit farther in. The tire will be wider but most of the width will go inside the car instead of sticking out like you say.
