cleaner for track boggers
Hi Folks,
Can anyone post the name and place that sells the stuff folks use to remove the spots left on the paint finish by debris at the track? I'm not even sure if these spots are rubber or oil or what but everybody that's done a HPDE knows what I mean.
I had used bug&tar remover but it was an old mix that's no longer available. New stuff ineffective.
Thanks,
Andy

Another thing that works great is Mr. Clean's "Magic Eraser." These are the small things that look like little sponges and sold in the household products section of the grocery store. Try it first on an inconspicuous part of the car to ensure it doesn't scratch or anything. I've got a light colored race car so it wouldn't show up on mine.
Neither of these things require any effort and removes the stuff thoroughly and easily.

How do you get it that oil off--lots of wiping and watering down?
I think the product I was seeing was something like "rejex". Is that for auto paint specfically? If not, I'll try some of the other remedies.
Thanks for all the replies--more than one way to skin the proverbial cat

Don't try to use it when the car's wet. The WD in WD40 stands for Water Displacing and so doesn't mix well with water. See http://www.wd40.com/about-us/history/ for more than you probably wanted to know about this unique product. I generally wash the car first to get the dirt, bugs and brake dust off, dry the car and then go back and hit the rubber marks with WD40. Spray some on a soft cloth and wipe. Marks come right off! Try it again......

I use a product called Goof Off. It is like a goo gone, but works much better. Works great to take off adhesive from decals.

WD40 might just be what I try here.

I was in PEP Boys today and saw a bottle of this stuff so said WTH. I came home, sprayed it on and then to my amazement the rubber just wiped off. I cant believe how easy this stuff is to use.
Got all the rubber off, cleaned it and then waxed it. Haven't done that in some time, but it was looking so good I felt it needed some wax.
BTW - there is a downside. Anyone remember the Married with Children episode where Al got glasses and saw how his life really was? Well with this I saw all of the chips, etc that I forgot about
thanks for the tip
