Default Cool Shirt pump failed

Put ice and water in the cooler. Got on the starting grid and plugged in the unit.... and nada. It was a tad warm without that pump running.

Has anyone replaced theirs? If so where is the best place to get a replacement?

TIA

It's just a bilge pump. You can get one from any boat supply place. Try West Marine, here's a link to one of their bilge pumps:

How old is yours? I have had mine for about 16 months. No problems yet, I would hate to loose mine on a hot day.
Sorry I do not know a source for a replacement. I have run the cleaning solution through mine twice, I am hoping this may help extend the service life...

Thanks for the replies. I purchased the cool shirt system in the spring of 2009. I took it apart and it's quite a bit smaller pump (size and capacity) than most bilge pumps. Here is the pump info.

The one in my cooler is a Rule 360 Bilge Pump.

Here is a link to that exact pump:

Rule 360 bilge pump!

Amazon has them, along with Dicks. They're only $12.

It's really a very simple system. The size of the pump won't matter, except current draw, since the system isn't pressurized.

Thanks Jody, I was hoping to get an exact replacement but after getting a quote for $69.95 plus shipping from Shafer Enterprises (Cool Shirt), I ordered the Rule from Amazon. Should not be too hard to find an adapter.

Here's a picture of the inside of my Coolshirt cooler, as you can see the pump is sitting on its side with the hose to the outside hooked to it.

Yes it's not quite the same, but it appears the inner pump cover might still fit.
Thanks!

You might try your nearest medical supply store. They make a cool-shirt like device called a "cool cuff". While not an immersion pump, it has a cooler you fill and then it circulates the fluid through some hoses and a pad that wrap around yourself.

You might be able to connect their cooler to your cool shirt.

Some of the guys in my local club make their own cooler/pumps since there isn't much too them. I was told for inexpensive built ones to look for the medical coolers. Look on the bay for an EB Ice brand cooler. There are several brands and configurations out there. Some connect right up to the cool shirt. No fuss no muss...

thanks, all I needed was a pump. I've ordered the one that Jody has in his cooler. Mine is just a tad different inside, but this will work just fine.

I got the replacement in. It's 1/4 inch or so too big to fit in the old housing. You can see how much smaller the old pump was. I've got an idea on how to make it work.
I'll post a pic tomorrow with the finished product.

Just put it in the bottom of the cooler, attach the hose and electrical connection to it, and that should work. As long as it's submerged it'll pump the water, which is all it's required to do. It doesn't have to go into the housing.
