Default ??Mobil One??

Now that WallyWorld doesn't carry the 15W-50 Mobil One any more! What is everyone using for synthetic 15W-50 at a decent price???? Because of the high temps here in Florida, my engine guy wants to stay with 50 weight. JD

I changed my oil before the recent trip to Road America and used the Mobil One 0W-40 (it is the European spec oil for Porsche, and approved for Viper, Caddy and Corvette etc.).

Jim, the lower grade rating of 10w-40 may lower operating temperatures even in Florida. This is what I have switched to:

Good oil, too. But if you run the car on the street and don't change it after every event, you will miss the detergents and buffers for the extended intervals between changes necessary for the engine.

AMSOIL came out with a new line called Z-ROD a few weeks ago. It is high in ZDDP like the Dominator racing oil, but includes detergents and dispersants needed for a street driven engine.

It comes in 10W-30

and 20W-50

JD, look at O'Relilly's they have great sales on 15-50 Mobil 1 from time to time. It's as cheap as it was at Wally World. I bought 15 quarts form them last time they had the sale.

Also, check Advance Auto Parts, they have big sales, too. Buy up a bunch and you'll always have stock.

If you don't have cats then Brad Penn 15w40 is a good choice, there's a lot of ZDDP in the BP oil but it's priced in the same neighborhood as Mobil 1.
