Default Daytona HPDE Dec 2-4, 2011

It's still 6 months away, but maybe something to think about for December.

We run the Rolex24 road course, and it's really fun in a high hp car like our Vettes.

I just got this email from forum member Henry Gilbert:

ATTENTION DRIVERS!

The moment you have been waiting for is here.

Registration for this years Daytona event is now open. The dates are December 2,3 & 4

This will be a 3 day event formatted in the following way:

a 1 day registration is available for Friday only.
a 2 day registration is available for Friday and Saturday only
a 3 day registration is available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
No other day combinations are available.

Coaches will have to call me for availability and there will be a charge to register. Please don't register without calling first as I will have to evaluate your experience at Daytona before you can register.

Garages will be available at a price. I am negotiating a package deal for us, but once again we will be using the yellow enclosed garages.

Camping is available, please call me to reserve your spot.

Henry Gilbert

Take a look at the HOD website:

http://www.hookedondriving.com/categ...y=1&StartRow=1

On there you can see that you can do just 1, 2, or all 3 days.

You'll also see that it ain't cheap, but I've heard it costs something like $35K per day to rent the track!!

I think Henry can also supply a prepped Corvette if you don't want to bring your own.

There is also a PBOC event at Daytona the end of Oct, and an Italian marque event in Nov (but I'm pretty sure any Marques are welcome if the Italian cars don't fill up registration).

Hope to c'ya here later this year!!!

Bob

Thanks! I just put a call into him to see about getting a car out there. I really want to run Daytona...but, the cost of getting my car out there from California is high. Hopfully this will work out.

We will be discussing tomorrow if we can make it from cheeseland! Of course a dinner at Stonewood is a must.

Will he be sharing the event with another organizer, I think he has shared the track with the audi club or some other organization, or will this be just Henery's track day???

I'm pretty sure it's in conjunction with the Audi club event.

I believe if you sign up for the Audi event you must do all 3 days.

With the HOD event, you can do just a day or two.

Below is a video that shows the Rolex24 track.

Default Daytona

Bob, yes the Audi Club is involved again a will be opening their website shortly. They will be offering again the 3 day package only. It is similar in price and garage rentals, driver instruction etc.

See you there again Bob. I will be bringing my LS powered Panoz GTS this year!

Two of us from WI. are interested in going. We would like to get a few more guys and rent a hauler to take the cars and gear down then fly or RV it down to FL. Anybody from Milwaukee/Chicago area interested?

Five guys with trucks and trailers will probably be more expensive than getting a hauler.

Hi Don

Wow!!!! The Panoz looks fantastic!!!

I guess you've got the Traqmate in there, or do you have some other data logger?

Lookin' forward to seeing you again.

I am in if I can keep my car together during the backend of the year.
Been on my wishlist for 3 years now! Glad to see more than the 3 day option, but then again, not really worth it to go for just 1 day.

The PBOC event in Oct is 3 days, but the first day is only racing groups.

The 2nd & 3rd days are the HPDE.

So, if you only want to do the HPDE part of the PBOC event, that would be 2 days - Oct 22-23.

Bob,

We usually stay at The Plaza in Daytona. This year for December and January we are going to try a condo. You up for taking a peek at a few for us if we set everything up. Just don't want a to pay premium buck for some hole on the beach.

You betcha!!! Do you have any places in mind, or should I just start looking around?

What dates are you needing it? A few days in Dec, and a week or so in Jan?

How big a place - how many bedrooms/beds are needed, how many people will be staying there?

You want it right on the beach? There are some other nice locations around.

Let me know if you have some addresses for me to scope out.

Also, if you do send cars down on a hauler and they get here before you do and you need me help out on this end in any way just let me know.

And yes - we'll definitely plan on Stonewood again!!

Hi Henry

I registered online for the full 3 days.

But, there wasn't any place to request, sign up, or pay for a garage.

How do I get a garage??

TIA

Bob,
all the yellow garages will be for HOD drivers, and I have you on my list for one. As we get closer to December I will contact you for payment.

I've got some other track events coming up this summer, but I'm looking forward to Dec already!!!

Henry,

There are some of us from Springfield, MO that are thinking about coming down to run a single day Friday Dec 2 at Daytona. What's the typical latest we have to sign up on line in able to get in on the beginner's sessions?

Also, How do we reserve a helmet? Sure don't want to show up and find no helmets are available to rent.
