It will finally happen, sports cars at Indy on the road course!!! I've been waiting for this since they reconfigured the infield track.
It will happen the same weekend as the Brickyard 400 next year.
Also the Nationwide series will race on the big track instead of at IRP. IMS will have to change over from oval to roadcourse and back again

Schedule:
Thursday, July 26: NASCAR Nationwide Series practice
Friday, July 27: GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge practice, qualifying and races
Saturday, July 28: NASCAR Nationwide Series practice, qualifying and race; NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice and qualifying
Sunday, July 29: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Brickyard 400 race

My dad and I will be there hopefully camping in the motor home across from Turn 1-2. We will be there this year also. We've been going down for the past 6-7 years now for the brickyard. Now we will get to watch 4 races on the track instead of 1.

Well, we still have the car, the desire and just need the funding. BUT for Indy, we would have no problem getting a sponsor. It is just hard to get funding for the whole season.
We plan on being at Indy in 2012 for sure.

Great Lou! Hope to see you and Louis there. I can't wait for this race to happen. I've been sitting in turn 1 for the brickyard for the past 3-4 years commenting to my dad that it would be so easy to bring sports cars to Indy after they reconfigured the infield.

Should be interesting weekend. Road Course AND Oval racing back and forth all weekend, along with Oval running counter-clockwise and the Road Course running clockwise.

I'm not a fan of NASCAR at all but may make the trip anyway. I do love Grand Am and Indianapolis......
