Default Big Bear Bash Autocross video. 7/9/2011

Went down to Big Bear for a small autocross event. About 50 drivers showed up. Kumho tire put up lots of prize money. I'm driving my friends stock 04 Z06 with Kumho XS street tires. 1st. in class.

Thanks, One just behind the rear view mirror on the inside of the windshield. The other one about 12" away.

1st. $300
2nd.$150
3rd. $50

Very few give out money. I can only think of two of them.

Cool course. Post up next time they run, that looks like a fun course! As an experienced driver I will say I'm impressed with your driving.

I think they only put it on once a year. Thanks for the compliments.

Good attitude and get help. That's how I still do it. I'm sure you will too.

I'm trying, only been to couple of auto-x put up by Speed Ventures at Auto Club Speedway parking lot and looking forward to going to their next August 13 auto-x.
Convenient because there is no work and you get in a lot of runs throughout the day. But the parking lot set up is much smaller/tighter (<50 sec) compared to the videos you put up from those El Toro events.

Maybe I should try out a real auto-x, the kind that you run. How do I sign up for one of those PCA auto-x?

You should try the local SCCA Autocrosses. It is a fantastic group of people...with more then their fair share of National champions. Additionally, everyone is willing to help show you how to be faster.

I think you'd enjoy the bigger, faster courses at El Toro. I believe registration is still open for this weekend's event. Go to www.solo2.com for Cal Club SCCA's website; event sign-up is at www.motorsportsreg.com. We typically get 100-120 entrants, and the surface is a grippy combination of concrete runways and asphalt taxiways.

No substitute for lots and lots of seat time!

Wow, seems like there is an auto-x by CSCC at el toro every month!
Definitely will have to try out a CSCC auto-x this year.

Can't try this Saturday's event, but will be passing by Irvine that day.
Would be fun to check out the scene and get an idea of what a real auto-x looks like.
Do they allow any spectators to go in without being signed up?

Thanks guys, for pointing me in the right direction
Hope to graduate to a real auto-x soon...

Sure, spectators are free as long as you sign the waiver. If you sign a second waiver at registration, you can bum some rides as a passenger.

Entrance is a street called Marine Way, right off the 5 Fwy at Sand Canyon. I'd say hello, but I'm only going to be there on Sunday.

Awesome! So many events at El Toro, where have I been? (on my butt watching all your videos in amazement )
Seems like CSCC events will work out better for me since Saturdays are better than Sundays.
Will try spectating a bit at this Saturday's CSCC event and hopefully try one out this year, after I get another practice with Speed Ventures' easier setup. Thanks again & keep those videos coming, because I feel like I am learning just by watching the awesome 2 camera videos!

What do you think about the XSs? My experience with them has only been in an S2000. I'm tempted to try 315/18X4 on an SSM Z06 for local events.

The XS tire size is great for a stock C5 Z06. In your case, running 315/30/18 on all 4 corners would be a great combination. I have nothing to compare these tires to other street tires. We have been getting great results in our region. Which doesn't really mean anything to you. If I had a SSM car, Hoosiers would be my only choice. If I needed to save money, then I would use Nitto Nt-01 tires. They have 315/30/18 size also.

Thanks for the info!
Yeah I'm trying to save some money on tires. I've been buying XSs and RS-3s for the S2000 for the last few years and have gotten used to the cheaper price. So far I've only ran 315/30/18X4 A6 scrubs on the vette and they work really good for a short time. Maybe starting with a new set will change my opinion on the lifesapn of A6s.

The lifespan of a new Hoosier A6 is 60 autocross laps, with proper camber.
