Default And so it begins....

After nearly killing myself in the car in my avatar........and barely healed from the accident...I begin a new race car project:

I call it a frame and two doors, because that is all it is at this point. And the passenger door took a hit and the latch needs to be cut out and replaced!

Here....we.....GO!!!!

Two Corvettes....one garage.....who will win!?!?!

Good luck!

What type of class are you looking to build it for?

What's the donor car story? Steel Frame?

The donor car is a 2005 steel frame C6. Yes, back in the saddle VERY soon....I am nothing if not impatient. I hope the build turns out as well as the Camaro did in the end...it was so wicked fast in the end.....the last 40 minutes of it's life anyway....

The car will be either ITE or AV8SS or STO or all of the above....I want to be open to options...

Congrats, looks like you picked a great platform to build on. That AV8SS class sounds pretty fun. I was talking to the guy who started it up and I might run with those guys sometime. Sounds like some of them have really fast cars. I know Andy Sutak's mustang is fast .

Yeah, Darrell Anderson started it and convinced me to move there from ITE this year. Lasted all of 40 minutes...hehe....but I WILL return!

The group is fun and looks to be growing.

Andy Sutak and I ran nose to tail in that last race for 6 laps. I passed him when his diff broke. Then, a lap later...buh bye

Fun group though....one reason I went with a production based car...was looking tube frame there for a while.

Naw....the hit to the passenger door took out the latch area and bent the stock halo back a few inches...missed the frame though...whew. Good thing I am going to cut the halo and windshield frame off anyway!

The red one is my daily driver/toy. It never got any cool stuff on it because all spare money goes into the race car...hehe. Almost completely stock.

Will you be robbing off your red car to feed the bare bones car?

FYI, the same guy wrote the rules for all 3 of those. He's a real good friend of mine, and the founder of AV8SS.

I will be using some of that very same stuff on the Corvette...

Since this will be kind of an "unplanned expense" the build might not be that crazy to start. It took YEARS to get the Camaro where it finally was as well.

the important part is: install bad-assery cage, fire system, seat, stout driveline (for whatever class you decide), your dry sumped LS7, wheels/brakes, fuel...AND HIT THE TRACK

Damn, Randy ... just heard about this! Glad you're doing okay. I've got a bunch of parts hiding in the rafters i'd donate to the cause ... but they're C5! Good luck!

I need alot of parts....since it is just a frame and doors. I have the bodywork coming...at least the rear and roof. And tail lights, but need all else.

I need the sway bar mounts that bolt to the cradle and stock engine block motor mounts...the part that bolts to the block. Dunno if these are C6 specific though. I need a rubber shift boot for inside the car...again, dunno if C6 is different.

Pretty much if you think it would be used in a road race car and it would work on a C6....run it by me....hehe....
