Default Track Wheels & Tires - very Slick!

These are no longer available

Thanks once again to this wonderful Corvette Forum!

We are offering someone the opportunity to move up to a great track package - advanced DE or entry-level racing - at a bargain basement price.

Hoosier R6 compound race tires, with four heat cycles - short testing sessions only. Sizes 295-35 x 17 and 315-35 x 17. We will leave it to you to scare yourself with what these 4 tires cost new. Hours of great grip remaining.

Tires are mounted on A-Mold replicas 9½" x 17" with 7⅝" backspace, and 11" x 17" with 7⅞" backspace. Wheels are beautiful silver metal-flake in excellent condition. They fit perfectly on all C4s and C5s, although larger, after-market brake packages may require special attention.

This is a nicely balanced, high-grip setup for the track. $1600 plus shipping from Watkins Glen, NY. If you can pick them up at the track, even better!

All inquiries welcome.

Interested!

?s:
1. Can you post/ PM the weights of each tire+ wheel?
2. 4 heat cycles -- any uneven wear visible?
3. Shipping to 95134?

Thanks,

Doc5

Curtis,

Thank you for the very positive feedback. We know that someone will be getting a great track package here.

-----------------

Doc5,

Thank you for your interest in the "traction package". Yours is an excellent question regarding track wheels/tires. Since others may also be curious, I'll post your answer here:

The front wheels weigh in at 22 pounds, the rears at 24 pounds.

The 295-35 Hoosiers weigh in at 23½ pounds, and the 315-35s at 26½.

Your "uneven wear" question could refer to many things. I'll assume you are wondering about proper alignment, or flat spots. There are absolutely no flat spots, no graining, and no abnormal wear of any kind. Each tire is as symmetrical as the one 315 tread shown in the photo above.

Hope this helps. Since the shipping costs will vary from destination to destination, I'll get an estimate for you, and send by PM.

Regards,
Ed

This will be a great deal for someone but i hate to tell you bbk will NOT work under these wheels . i have 3 sets of kodiak wheels for my c5 and there is only 1 kit out there that will work under these wheels and it has just been released . it was custon made by hardbar/apracing. trust me i found this out the hard way it takes 18in wheels for all kits but this one. even the wilwood kit wont fit . dont take my word for it do your own research if you plan on using with a bi brake kit.

The wheels will fit over the LG G Stop kit if a spacer is used for the front wheels. The G Stop kit fits under the stock C5 Z 17x9.5 wheel. I ran the G Stop kit on my C5Z for 4 years. I had the same wheel setup as this when I purchased the brake kit and found I needed the spacer since the back side of the spokes would hit the outside of the caliper.

I thought that's why angle grinders were invented . . . . .

Bob and Bill,

Sincerely, thank you for the clarifying posts. Again, I made the mistake of taking the word of someone who I believed had complete info on the C5 fittment. I am modifying my original post to reflect this more correct information.

Would this also imply that some of the later C4s, with, say, Brembo multi-pot calipers, would have similar clearance problems?

Thanks,
Ed

'Tis the season - Racing Season, that is.

This package represents a very nice upgrade for those using only 9½" wheels, or those running any "DOT radial" other than Hoosiers. A package like this can transform a track car!

Questions? Comments??

Default Last chance

Gentlemen,

All offers considered before we use up these tires . . . . .
The forecast at The Glen calls for low-90-degree temperatures for Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday this coming weekend. Since these Hoosiers are the hardest compound tires we have right now, they will be pressed into service, UNLESS -----

----- unless someone steps up in the next couple of days.

Last call!

Hi Bill,

The Riesentöter Region of Porsche Club has the track Friday thru Sunday. At last count, there were no less than 60 INSTRUCTORS signed up (not everyone is actually instructing!). The fastest run group should be a good time!

Now all I need to do is find out why a new "SECURITY" warning light will only let the car run for 2 or 3 seconds. Always something!!

Put me on your guest list for Monday, and I'll come up to say Hi (weather permitting) and hang out a while.

Best,
Ed

OK. You are on the guest list. Not sure what garage I will be in. Joe hasn't assigned garages yet.

Change of plans. Unfortunately, we were unable to run this weekend, and so these wheels & tires are still in great condition, as above, and STILL AVAILABLE. Any OFFERS?

Default Sorry, Bill

Bill,

I regret that I did not get up to the track to spend some time catching up with you. I have been consumed working on this damn steering column problem, and attempting to decide upon a strategy for fixing.

Hopefully, you were able to take advantage of the bright sunshine to lay down some fast laps. When is your next event at The Glen?

Ed
