Default WTB Hans device

I am looking for a good deal on a large HANS device in very good condition.

Let me know if there are any available.

Thanks,
Charley

If it's not a large size I might be interested.

Hey Charley

I guess this is for use in your car.

Did you go for a "street" C6 from Henry??

If so, I assume it will have he OE 3 point seat belt system.

The HANS can only be used with a harness system - it needs shoulder straps coming over each shoulder to work.

Yes, it is primarily for use in my car. Since I added a racing seat and 6 point harness I think it is time to add a HANS. I barrowed a HANS from a friend at my last event and liked the idea of the added safety. For Daytona I rented one of Henry's "race preped" cars that has a race seat and harness. I need to ask him if his setup is HANS compatable.

Charley,

The one I have is a medium.

For anyone else interested, here is the info.

The date of mfg is June 2008 based on the silver SFI label. My son stopped racing in late 2009, so it was not used that much. It appears to be in excellent condition, with no signs of wear. The model is 20 Sport series. 20 MS is embossed on the back at the top. It fits like the one I have and mine is a medium. Pictures can be provided if given an email address.

It appears on a major retailer web site that the helmet, helmet anchors, and sliding tethers are priced separately. Between the major retailer web site and the HANS site, here is how the pricing looks:

ITEM NEW USED DELTA
HANS device Sport series $545 $380 $165 (30%)
Sliding tether upgrade $ 75 $ 52 $ 23 (30%)
Total $620 $432 $188

Round the price to $400 plus shipping from Raleigh, NC 27612. You save $220.

You will have to buy the helmet anchors, which are $55. This applies whether you buy new or used. They are readily available from HANS or retailers such as Saferacer. That would make your total cost $455 vs. $675, saving $220.

A quick check on Thursday, 7/14, E-bay had one that appears equivalent with a current bid of $255. Bidding remains open for 6 days, so who knows where the bidding will go. If you are familiar with E-bay, you know what happens the last few minutes. On the same date, the closest used equivalent on RacingJunk.com was $575.

Whether you buy this one or not, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you get one. This applies to HPDE as well as racing.

Thank you for your interest and time. Please respond to eogel@nc.rr.com.
