Default what does it take to change a gear ratio

So I think I would have a really neat setup with 3.76 final drive and taller 2nd gear. This way I get better accel in 4th and usable 5th without sacrificing 2nd for slower corners where there is good traction on the exit.

The trouble is I roughly understand what it would take to change the rearend ratio but have no idea how to go about changing 2nd gear - how much stuff would i need to swap or get fabricated? who would make the parts? what are the approx costs?

The transaxle needs to come out anyway since it really likes 4th gear now and the diff prefers right turns to the left ones (anti-NASCAR?)

oh also: 6 and a half years and about 70 track days before I had to limp the broken car home due to serious non-human failure. I think I've done pretty good

If you replaced your mn12 with a mn6 that would help 2nd gear. Depending on hp then you could change the 3.42 for 3.73s which would give you more pull in 4th and 5th.

With 460 rwhp I ran mn6 with 3.73 gears and love the combination. When I went to the ls7 engine and more torque I went back to 3.42 which I want to switch out again to give me some more room in 3rd.
