{Mid Ohio} When Mother Nature gets mean.
Spent Thursday and Friday at Mid Ohio with the Ferrari Club of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati SCCA. I didn't enter TT. Just stuck with the PDX to have a good time.
My friend (in the yellow Z06) and I were following each other around and apparently Mother Nature was not amused. The previous lap was a good one. The skies were overcast but not threatening. Rain was predicted but not for another hour or so. Long story short... well... see for yourself.
From my dad's point of view. He happened to be in the perfect position to watch the madness.

This happened at my very first HPDE about 2/3rd of the way down our front straight. Thankfully I had a great instructor and mny speed was around 50mph slower than the more experienced drivers.

Burning Brakes
that tail wag will always get u.. when u countersteer on the first part anticipate a violent wag the other way as soon as the car starts going straight steer like hell the otherway and try to get ahead of it... if u have a chance of saving it this will help....if u watch top gear when they slide those cars soooo sideways notice they always cut the vid as soon as they start to corect it (i suspect they spin out!!!) anyway a good spin is good exersize for your heart!!!!

PZero slicks + Rain = No Stopping. There was already an SCCA spec racer spun to the inside (no yellow flags.) Wasn't sure if Red was going to be able to stop and had a 350z about half the back stretch behind us. Could have finished the spin and stayed on, but instinct told me to get out of the way.

My student (in a BMW) slowed way down on his own just before the first rain storm hit. It was like driving on ice and he kept it on the track. barely !! Later when the HUGE rain storm came, we were in line to go out... but got out of line just as the rain really started coming down. My driver's suit gaine 30# of water before i got to the garages for shelter.
