Track day ABS usage on C5/C6 cars: Frequent or infrequent?
Just curious about how often the ABS comes into play out on the track. My cars are too vintage to have ABS, but I've wondered if this feature comes into play on a regular basis on a dry track, or mainly just during lousy street weather or wet track days.
Thanks.
Thanks.

How exactly did you do that?
To the OP, the only times I feel the ABS actually engage during a DE is when the tires are cold. Autocross happens more often as I'm going as deep as I can, but for a DE, where there's no timing, what's the point at going to the ragged edge?
Now, for TTs or other competitive events, go for it!
HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

I've done 2 HPDE days so far, and my ABS only kicked in ONE TIME! I don't want my ABS coming in on every turn like someone else stated. Way to much wear and tear on that system.
For me personally, I don't want it coming on ever, unless i'm on the streets trying to avoid an accident.
I mean come on....even if you do time trials, there is no prize. It's still only for fun. You don't " WIN " anything. So why kill your equipment each time you drive it....sure try your best/push it to the limit.....but no need to push it beyond it's limits...
Just my 2 cents.....if you are rich, ignore everything I just said and drive the hell out of it!

I used ABS to learn the limits of my car, now I dont get into it and I am thinking of removing the whole system from the racecar. If you get into ABS your stopping distance increases. The car will actually stop faster if you can do it yourself at the threshold before ABS kicks in. For DEs or just out having fun it doesnt matter, try not to get into it to save the equipment, but in competition the difference between 1st and 2nd could be the amount of time you spend in ABS.

I wouldn't call winning $1300 worth of Hoosiers in Time Trials in a weekend "nothing". Several folks on this forum have won 8-10 grand in a year doing Time Trials.

With a bunch of vette's in class, you can walk away with $1400 worth of contingency $$ from the generous folks at Pfadt Racing and Hoosier. There are other contingency's to. If you don't think much is on the line, you should have seen scott at CMP when he got a red flag dumped on him while he was on a 1:38 sticker tire "***** hanging out the window" lap

Thanks for your input, guys. I'm curious, is it your (individual) opinion that it reduces the stopping distance (compared to threshold braking), or does it primarily just prevent things from going sour when a wheel locks up?
