Default LG Motorsports and ForgeLine wants your feed back!!

Hi guys,

As you know we do a lot of business with ForgeLine wheels and for the most part they strictly make 3 piece wheels. We had a great response from the EV1 one piece wheels for a few years on track cars, but due to the limited sizing in the 18" diameter it was not a big seller and was dropped late in 2010.

So they have came up with a new GA1R wheel, and this time we are going to do more sizing and we want your feedback to see what you guys want in sizing. Being a one piece wheel this is more limited so these are the sizes we are looking at currently.

ZR1/ZO6/GS: 18x10, 18x12, 18x13, 19x10, 19x12, 19x13 and 20x13
C5/C6: will not be concave but we are looking at 18x9 and 18x11

They are currently building for Porsche and these were the weights
The 18x9 Porsche wheels are coming in at 18.3 lbs and the 18x12 at 21.5

Carrying the new GA series of styling all of the spokes are scalloped out for lighter weight, and also notice the thin, strong spokes with material removed around the base as well. There is a lot of detail to look at so please look close! Built strong enough to run the 24hrs of Daytona and cool enough to win first place at the show on the weekend!

These will be built as 5 lug and center lock conversion as well.

Your feedback is appreciated and will be sent to ForgeLine to have these wheels built for the Corvette's so please let me know!

From what I've read you can run a 295 on the front of a Z06/GS so it would be nice to have an 18x11 for that.

Also I'd love to see a good quality wheel for the base C6 sizes and offsets that doesn't cost a fortune! It seems like the only options are to go to 19/20 but I actually DRIVE my convertible so prefer the extra sidewall of the standard 18/19 combo.

I have 315's on the front of Lou's ZR1, but that's a tight fit, and track only.

Yeah, two different applications I was referring to there - 295's for the track on my Z06 and then street wheels for my vert.

My biggest question would be would these clear BBK's like Wilwood, AP, etc and what would be the offsets. Would be nice to clear my Wilwood SL6's without any spacers in the front.

For me with a C5, having 18x10 with 315 wide tires on all corners would be nice for ease of rotating tires at the track.

Of course, they will. The big thing right now is making an 18" that will clear even the ZR1 brakes, which we have already done with the GA3R.

I'd love to see 18 x 10 front, 19 x 11 rear for the standard C6.

Please forgive the n00b wheel question...

We had exchanged some IMs back in the spring when I get my annual wheel upgrade fever for my convertible and you introduced me to the concept of step-lip and reverse-lip wheels, with reverse lip being not-so-good if you actually drive your car and it sees rain because it would sit in the barrel, etc.

So I did a lot of Googling while I was getting that straight in my head and I didn't see anything like THAT barrel. It doesn't look like it has the step on the inside of the barrel that would collect water, but what style of wheel would you consider that to be?

Anthony:

Nice looking wheels and the weights are attractive. However, I would do an 18x11 and 18x13 combination for the Z06/ZR1. Pricing?

I need a lot of wheels for racing so price is going to be important.

How much will it be for the T1 sizes for a C5 in 18x10 and 18x11?

Are the C5 wheels transferable to a C6 when I upgrade?

Any one piece wheel is going to work like a stepped lip. You can see from the side profile that the drop section is right at the spoke section and then will taper out.

You would not have water collecting inside the wheel like you would on a reverse rolled lip wheel.

Pricing has NOT been set by ForgeLine at this time, but I'm expecting similar to the EV1 wheels which were $4500-5000/set.

At that price I would not be buying them for racing. Too many other choices that cost half of that.

There are less expensive options out there and also less quality wheels as well.

Racing puts more stress on the wheels than any street car would ever see which is why it is so important to have a good wheel on the car and why you see ForgeLine on most of the pro level cars like our own.

ForgeLine just released this:

http://blog.forgeline.com/2011/08/30...etition-wheel/

Forgeline Motorsports is proud to introduce our latest high-performance competition wheel, the GA1R.

The GA1R is a fully-forged one-piece monoblock wheel that utilizes much of the technology and design of our very successful GA3R racing wheel, including our new “I-Beamed Spoke” technology. The concave design of the GA1R not only looks great, but allows plenty of room for caliper clearance and extreme brake fitment, while the one-piece monoblock forging and I-Beamed spoke design yield a wheel that is extremely stiff with fatigue strength equal to our race-proven GA3R. And yet despite the strength and stiffness, for most applications and sizes, it also delivers a high-performance weight reduction – making it perfect for motorsports and racing applications!

The GA1R is produced using our traditional forging method from 6061-T6 aluminum. It is currently available in limited sizes and fitments, including center lock applications, but additional sizes and fitments are in development now. And just like any Forgeline wheel, the GA1R is available with fully customizable finish options.

* One-Piece Monoblock Design
* I-Beamed Spoke Technology
* Extreme Stiffness
* Extreme Fatigue Strength
* Lightweight
* Generous Brake Clearance
* Forged 6061-T6 Aluminum
* Customizable Finish Options
* Legendary Forgeline Quality and Customer Service
