Default 7 point safety belts

Can someone tell me what a 7 point safety belt is? I have a 6 point system and hear the Nascar guys talking about a 7 point.

Default 3 anti-submarine straps

I heard someone talking about that after the Nascar race and looked it up. Seems the belt companies are now making the harnesses with three anti-submarine belts.

Yep, that looks like it - 3 crotch straps. I thought it might involve some sort of sternum strap but not so.

7 is used because the 5th point gives superior rollover control to the harness. The 6 points give superior anti sub properties by controling the pelvis movement. Billybobs at NASCAR are pretty smart they realize that collisions are rarely 1 dimensional. They are the most avid adopters of the dual shoulder belt HANS shoulder belts developed in F1 that I think no one in F1 uses. So that's a 9 point harness.
