Default Rule of thumb for tire pressure adj?

Car did so good at Charlotte Monday, I am doing RD ATL tomorrow. Just curious what the general rule of thumb would be for tire pressure adj on the fly. Tires are Hoosier R80s. I know 2-4 extra for ovals (got to remember to adj that out). What does incr/decr affect? How much do you adj from morning (cooler) thru the afternoon (hotter)? Thoughts?
