Milner got two wheels off on the inside of a corner, lost traction, went across the track and into the wall. He was able to drive the car back on track, but the car was damaged beyond repair.

It was a single car incident, driver error, plain and simple. And the way the team was setting up their strategy, he was in a position to take the lead when the competition took their last pit stop.

He went back into the pits, and then behind the wall. I am sure he feels terrible, there is just no margin for error.

Yeah, he had a great chance to win and just overcooked it and went too wide coming out of 13.
My Q is why did the 4 car fall back so quickly after making a strong charge? Fuel issues?
Hope you had a good time, sorry I missed this one.

Sad to see the guys finish the way they did. Milner's crash - well that's racing. #4 car falling back at the end of the race - who knows. I'm sure the team was terribly disappointed.

Johnny O just theorized (during the ABC telecast) that the 4 may have overcooked his front tires. Johnny said the Vettes are the only cars without front dive planes (canards) and he said they abuse the fronts big time especially in the carousel.

Derek, where were you situated for watching the race?

That's why I have them canards (lol), they do serve a purpose, even if some in this Forum think they're ridiculous and "Fast & Furiousy"!

Thanks, Ev, your Katechized Monster is pure beast, and got canards, too! Maybe soon the C6R Zs will have them too, finally!

Dive plates put more front down force so the tires do not slide as much (more front grip) which eventually heats the tires and they lose grip.

Too bad they never talk about and compare required car weights, HP, restrictor plates, etc. ALMS does not want GM to do to GT-2 what they did to GT-1!

Not according to Jan - here is his account of what happened from the Corvette Racing website;

"Magnussen was consistently in the top five in the No. 4 Corvette in the second half, and was attacking the No. 45 Porsche for third with 30 minutes remaining. In the closing minutes, however, he was passed by the No. 56 BMW, and then had to defend his position against the No. 17 Porsche.

"My first stint in the car was quite good," Magnussen said. "Then as the temperature cooled down, the balance of the car changed and I backed off to bring the car home. Fifth place is absolutely not satisfying in any way; it,s not where I thought we were going to finish."

hum...that sucks. When Ollie made the sweet pass for first, we had a good lead and set a 2:06xx lap time. We were really cooking...then just all went to crap after a GTC porsche hit the gravel AGAIN and a yellow came out...

Hope you had a good time, sorry I missed this one.
i talked to team members and they said were sure why 4 fell back so far in the final stint but were stating most likely tires, was really rooting for a win as it would have really made my 1st ALMS race special!

also yeah the A arm on #3 for effed up so by the time ya change that might as well retire the car and not risk anything else happening

I got petit le mans fever and hope i can work out a cure for it

Derek, where were you situated for watching the race?
mutiple places. beginnng was the pits. then turn 12 (can corner)

then turn 6 hill going up into vette bridge.

then down by carousel. & across bridge on far west side of the kink, then finished it up sitting on grass on hill headed to turn 6

hell of a close race by muscle milk and mazda
