I think that's great.

I can't believe his defense attorney would try to compare what he did, to what a 21 year old did. And then think the judge was too harsh for the punishment he gave. Court fines are designed to hurt the criminal monetarily. We can't jail people for excessive speed. If that were the case I'd take people to jail every day.

They should let him walk. Those worthless cops drive faster than that daily in their hoopty crown vics pursuing someone they clocked doing 10 over and don't have a quarter of the skill that guy does. In addition to the fact that he's driving one of the most refined performance cars ever built.

I worked for a local PD for three years and not a one of them could drive for sh*t.

What they can do or can't do has noting to do with what he did.

The concept is, he is a professional driver. He drives around other professional drivers in a controlled racing environment. When he takes his talent to the streets, it is dangerous for everyone. He can't control what other people do and that's when accidents happen.

I couldn't control when someone pulled out in front of me and caused me to lay my bike down and almost lose my life.

He is a professional athlete. He is a role model to adults and children. His actions tell the public it's ok to break the law. Just like the football and basketball players that drink and drive, use drugs and shoot at people like they are back on the block.

I'm sorry the agency you worked for had crappy drivers. You can't generalize every PD just from your experience.

I'm disgusted with the police and justice system in my area right now. Tons of small town, underpaid departments. Officers driven to right traffic to control their own salaries through court time. A 6 month course entitles you to become high and mighty and break every law in the book in your pursuit to "enforce" the law and protect the public. The most lives I see being endangered on the street are when police officers drive like maniacs in garbage overweight/underbraked vehicles with nothing more than an evoc course.

Bush is wrong but, to make it a big issue is a bit ridiculous. Fine the guy, the end. He did what anyone would do, when handed the keys to an LFA.

The real issue in this country isn't speed, it's the lack of driver education and training. If you look at other countries, driver preparation is much more intense and lengthy. People drive like a$$holes and that's why people die. The cops are no different, nor are they any better. They just took their little course entitling them to be tough guys.

your absolutely correct "LET HIM WALK" take away his drivers license (which I believe he needs to compete in NASCAR) and let him walk where ever he goes....do the crime do the time.

He could have lawyer'd up and fought it but he plead guilty and took the spanking.

In NC a single conviction of speeding in excess of 75 m.p.h. where the maximum speed is less than 70 m.p.h. can lead to suspension as can anything greater than 80.

They took his license for 45 days. But in NASCAR he can still race without a driver's license.

It would have been absolutely hilarious if the judge said, while giving out the sentence, ..."and Mr. Bush you will also lose 100 points in The Chase."

I wonder what he or Joe Gibbs would have said if the judge did that with a straight face.

somewhere in Scandinavia, the fines are based on a percentage of your income. That seems more fair way to punish the offender.

Since I started doing HPDE's, I rarely go much over the speed limit

I don't know, doing nearly triple the speed limit and in excess of 100mph, 1k and keeping your car with only a 45 day license suspension seems pretty light to me.

I'm not a pro racing driver but I would've guessed a hell of a lot tougher punishment for the average joe than that.

I should definitely move to NC...
