Default Went to an event at Roebling Road

I went to a very nice 2-day track event at Roebling Road Raceway in Pooler, GA (Savannah) over the weekend.

It was my first time there and I had a great time learning the 2-mile track.

I ran my 2006 Z06, which is stock except for Killer Bee intake and tune. I was running Michelin street tires - I drove the car 240 miles up to the event and back.

There were some very nice cars there - Lambo SL, Porsche GTR, GT3, Carrera GT, Audi R8 V10, MB C63, BMW M3, GTR, etc. And, Mike The Powdercoater was there in his 370Z.

There were only about 40 or so cars in 4 run groups, and everything went smoothly.

Below is a couple laps in my Z06. Sorry about the audio - my ChaseCam isn't working so I used my backup video recorder.

Also, my RPM input seems to need some fixin'! So, disregard the RPM readout. The gear display comes from the RPM and speed, so it's not correct - I ran the whole track in 3rd except for a shift to 4th down the front straight. The speed comes from GPS, so it's accurate.

Bob

Very nice Bob, RR is a fun track.

All the shade in the Paddock is great this time of year also.

Did you try the BBQ salad?

Darkside is a very nice group to run with there if you ever get the chance. Their next event there is Sat-Sun, Nov 5-6.

I miss living in NC....

Roebling is a fun track. BTW, Roebling can be driven entirely in 4th gear.

I've used 4th all the way around in both a C5Z and C6Z.

I wouldn't imagine that would be the fastest way around that track would it? I've never been to Roebling so I'm interested to see how it is for racing.

It's not but it helps those learning the track to concentrate on line and braking.

It is a very fast track, you will be in 4th most of the time. There are places you can use 3rd, but if you are driving around in 3rd you are not going fast enough. In a C5z, shift to 5th at the start/finish with a good run out of 9. In a C6Z was able to hold it in 4th into the braking zone T1 at 163.

It will be fun to race, I think I will have to change from the DE line to avoid being passed in some areas.

It is most often the fastest way around the track. If you are in 3rd at Roebling you are not driving fast enough.

My car doesn't have enough low end grunt to run the entire track in 4th. 3rd gives me a good squirt between T2 & T3 and also out of T7.
I really really hate that I'm gonna miss this one. I was looking forward to it.

After the last 2 valve train failures, I seriously doubt my car would survive another day at Reobling. I'm hoping that MO is a bit easier on the old girl so I don't come back with my tail tucked.

.
Roebling has been pretty gentle on my car compared to most others.
