Default Castrol SRF - Two Different Containers - Same Stuff???

I'm used to buying SRF in this bottle/packaging:

http://astore.amazon.com/cheapamazon...ail/B0018EWAWI

It's also available in this packaging:

http://www.powersportparts.net/Produ...ctCode=83-0345

Anybody know if it's the same product? Why the difference? The Castrol site shows it in the bottle/packaging provided in the first link above.

TIA

Rick

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Is there a shelf life? I wouldn't think so as long as it has an air tight seal?

I've never used Castrol SRF from a metal can but I know the plastic bottle has changed recently. It's the same stuff as far as I know (I do remember when brake fluid used to come in metal cans though). I actually like the old-style plastic bottle better - it's easier to grip when pouring. I contacted Castrol a while back about the shelf life question. Their reply follows:

Thank you for contacting Castrol.

There is no shelf life for Castrol SRF, however we would suggest that for maximum protection and performance, the product be used within 2 years of the date of manufacture. Regardless of the storage conditions, moisture can get into the product via osmosis through the plastic. No partially filled bottles should ever be used once open, use or discard.

Thank you again for your interest in Castrol, The Technology Leader !

A metal can will have a longer shelf life due to being more effective blocking moisture absorption in the fluid.

There is a moisture barrier layer in the plastic bottle but it will not be as good as the can.

Moisture absorption is why they recommend not using fluid from a bottle that has been opened and set around a while.

In real life, probably not much difference for new stock.
