Default What road courses near Alabama?

Another member and I are entertaining the idea of tracking our cars at a road course. I'm finding tracks but they don't let cars on them, more or less just spectating. What do you guys do down there?

The only way to get on to Barber (in fact many road courses) is to go with a club or HPDE. Very few (particularly the major venues) will just open their doors and let you on and drive. Look in to PCA, NASA, NCM. These aren't go kart tracks where you just buy a ticket and wring out your car. Track rental is very expensive.

I've only been to VIR for a HPDE with the Corvette Museum. Don't know if they have open track days.

Chin has an event this weekend at Barber but it is sold out.

PBOC has an event at Barber on Nov. 19 & 20 and has plenty of space.

So what is wrong with racing in the Alabama mud? Just have to get that '63 pontiac tempest. Ask cousin Vinny.

Default Bama Tracks

Talladega Gran Prix Racetrack
Flat, safe, 1.4mi, Casual, Hard on tires & brakes, weekday rental not terribly expensive. google TGPR

Barber
Nice like a park or golf course, 2.4mi, elevation changes, Easy on tires & brakes, Fun, no very long straight, need to go with hpde to be affordable, Cool motorsports museum & adjacent bass pro shop [I'm redneck].

One needs to attend an event or club event / high Performance Drives School, and not just go on and drive.

Under events click on Chin or PBOC. Or Google the event.

Here's a link to BMW Octoberfest. http://bmwccaofest.org/
