Default Aero Project...

Well I am diving into the aero world! This stuff really is interesting, I have been trying to take pictures as much as I can during the process.

First of all I would like to thank some of the forum members that I have messaged for questions here and there, this forum is a great place
I decided to go wth the Kognition Wing, again based on a lot of research here on the forum. The folks at Kognition were very good to deal with and got the wing to me as fast as they could due to the dead line I am working on.
As far as the front end, hood, and splitter- again after research here I felt like it had to be ACP. Kerry Hitt also was very helpful and is extremely knowledgeable on our cars and has tested with GM in the tunnel. He actually got the parts to me 3 days ahead of what I requested- outstanding! He has also been available to me for any questions I have had. Kerry You I am adding some pictures now to get caught up with where I am right now, I hope to finish this project in another week or two. I will add more pictures as i go.

The mounting brackets were fabricated out of 5x3 angle lightened down to about 5 lbs each. (There are two more bolts that go in the lower mount just not in at the time of the photo)

I am going without fans first time out- If I do have to go back to a fan it want be with the factory boat anchor set-up

To be continued

How does the splitter attach and transfer the downforce on it to the frame?

I do not know the weight of the splitter/fascia, I will have it all back off several more times, I will try to get the weight. I have lifted the fascia/splitter/undertray all attached together and I would say it is close to the factory front nose with parking lights etc. I did get the splitter and front fascia in two pieces, hopefully in the event of an off track event it will only take out the splitter and not damage the front fascia too bad of course the undertray is also in jeopardy
Here is a picture of the splitter before I attached it to the fascia, it weighs practically nothing. The undertray is carbon so it is very light, the splitter and fascia are fiberglass..
Can't make Rd Atl. this year

Thanks, that is what I have been told. I remember reading that Raftracer said he could jump up and down on his. I have adjustable rods ordered for the splitter and I am also adding some bracing from the front frame to the splitter/fascia I will see how strong it is then...

Jason just a partial answer here the undertray has aluminum plates molded into the carbon fiber, I drilled and tapped these 1/4 20 and used stainless bolts through the splitter into the carbon fiber undertray, this ties everything together. Also as mentioned above I am fabricating some supports to attach the splitter and fascia to the front frame section. The rear of the undertray attaches to some brackets that are now welded to the sway bar mounts. This also allows for a little bit of adjustment in the undertray vertically about an 3/4 of an inch. Here is the best picture I have right now at the back of the undertray, I will take more later

Color me jealous

EDIT - Just noticed you still have the factory antenna installed. FYI the OEM rubber hood bumpers make a perfect plug for the antenna grommet

More aero drag than a 1/4-20 stud.
