Default 1st time on Hoosiers, questions on PSI etc

breaking away from the 340 treadwear street tires in exchange for a set of hoosier a6 this upcoming wkd. going to be running a 285/30-18 front and 295/30-18 rear on 18x9.5 wagons. (yea yea I know, but I got em cheeeeeeeeap).

as far as air pressures go, I have been running 30 front/27 rear cold on my street tires. where do I want to be with the Hoosiers?

anything else I should know about them?

Remember traction is like a rubber band. The farther you stretch the band, the harder it snaps.

I see people run the A6 all over the map. I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. I usually run 33 front, 31 rear.

I'm sure you'll get other opinions.

Autox/DE/TT ?

Your pressures for street tires on a track (if that's what you are describing) seems very low, that's the pressure I might want for going to get groceries. Actually on similar size tires I run 30-32 all around generally for STREET USE.

How Old are the tires? or how many heat cycles?

Mid 20s is a good starting place

As someone said, it's all over the map. I've run fronts anywhere from 28 to 34 PSI, with the rears between 2 to 6 PSI lower, depending upon the ambient temperature, surface, and what I want to do with the balance of the car. Auto-x use.

That rear rim is narrow for that tire.

Try 30/26 and mark the tires with shoe polish to see how close you are to using all the tire.

Better if you can get a probe pyrometer & take temps immediate after several runs.

H's like a lot of neg camber, hope you have it.

That rear rim is narrow for that tire. no shortage of people running 315s on 9.5s, nationally. pretty sure ill be ok on 295s

H's like a lot of neg camber, hope you have it. I haz some of that

If the tires are at half life (I assume you mean half tread depth), make sure you "flip" them after about 20-25 runs to maximize your usage.

Even temps (+/-) or aim for the center = the avg of the inner & the outer temp. Skid pad test is best, but who has one of those.

If the outer is way higher than inner, need more neg.

I was running 295 all around this year, the more camber I had the lower I could go on the pressure without killing the outside.
Camber ended up with 2.3 front 1.7 rear with polybushings and running 30psi front 27psi rear hot
If it's your first time on rcomps might what to run a tad higher, it's hard on the sidewalls if you get it to low. Hope it helps

Those pressures seem low to me. I ran 38 to 40 hot in my BMW Time Attack car with good results.

I've been running 28 front and 26 rear COLD on my Hoosier R6s for years now. Great traction and very predictable. Mike
