Default Track car - insurance?

What do you do about insurance for your dedicated "track car" (not licensed or street legal)? Also, what about the trailer?
Do you cover it/them at all (yes, I know the trailer has to be street legal/thus should be insured)?
Share it all, friends!

Trailer is covered by truck insurance. Best to double check with your carrier.

My Vette is a street/track car and my regular policy does not cover track days.

I use Lockton when doing track days.

Premium this season was 170.00 and change for a weekend, regardless of 2 or 3 days. Think they also have a multi event package available if you're running a minimum of 6 events or more.

Good question! With my Z, it's street legal some of the time and it's on my multi-car policy. That provides coverage while it's on the trailer being towed. I have insurance on my trailer that cover damage and theft. For the track, I have insurance through OnTrackInsurance.com.

I don't know know how you get insurance on a pure track car that covers it during transportation.

There are insurance companies who cover race cars & trailers for theft and transportation, but not on track. Here in NC the premium is ~ $500 annual for $35,000 of coverage.

There are specific race car insurance policies.

Does not cover ON THE TRACK, theft / fire / damage in your shop, transport to and from races, and paddock.

Don't take anything on track you aren't comfortable kicking back and popping a beer while it sits in a smoldering heap.

I've had policies with three different company's I'm currently with Hartland Insurance out of Mi. Their multi event policy seems to be very reasonable, the policy is insured by Loyld's of London. I even have two cars on the policy I just have to declare which car Im using 24 hours in advance.

They also offer off track coverage if you need it for your track car or in my case my main track car is tagged and insured however I have a ton of money in it so I have off track coverage for a much higher value than my street coverage with State Farm.

I know there is a Chin member who totaled his car on track and used Lockton for insurance and they covered it 100%, minus the deductibles I'm sure.
