Default Pilot sport cup VS RA-1

I am looking to buy a tire for street/hpde events. Not sure which would be the better choice between the two.

I have used Hoosier R6 and Kumho V710 but I am tired of the tire swap so I just want to drive to the events on the rubber, hence looking at these options.

Any input is appreciated.

Negative on sport cup is width, only goes to 295/18's where the Ra1 could go 305/18.

It looks like the treadwear rating on the Toyo is 100 and it is 80 on the MPSC so I would tend to believe the MPSC would indeed have more grip at the track. I have used the Michelins on track and they are quite good - not as good as a Hoosier A6, but not bad. I have no experience with Toyos.

The cups are really good I have been running them on the 911TT in a 315/30/18 rear 265/35/18 front but they are getting hard to find in that rear size, they must have discontinued them. I might try the r888 on the porsche next. I bought some wheels for z06 that are coming with new 335/30/18 RA-1s but it will be awhile before I can try them on a track

You may want to look at Nitto NT555 RII Extremes or NT01s. I've run the RIIs and was quite pleased.

I use RA-1s as street tires and have even autoxed on them a couple times. Not the crispest turn-in compared to the A6, but decent grip and they are very easy to drive at the limit. No experience with MPSC to compare.

Check the tire weights. You'll find the MPC's weigh several pounds less.

cups tend to be expensive but will take a lot more heat cycles than any toyo, nitto, or hoosier tire I tried, before starting to lose grip dramatically.

if you don't mind the price and can find your sizes, they are very good dual use tires to buy.

If the 315's were available I would go with the cups without question. It seems like the widest they have is 295 now.

I will try running 285/30/18 up front and the 295 out back.
It's tough finding any R compounds in Canada these days at least for a decent price.
