changing shocks....do I need an alignment?

I think you may find ride height will change whether you intend it or not. Different shocks often have different "head pressure" which results in a ride height (and therefor alignment) change.
When I installed KONI 3013Sports in place of my stock C6Z51 shocks ride height changed measurably (even after settling).

While I doubt your ride height will change significantly, measuring it before and after would not be a bad idea. At most, you might want to tweak your Toe.

While it might not be absolutely necessary for an alignment after a shock swap, it's not a bad idea to check after finishing the install. An alignment is a whole lot cheaper than replacing an aggressive street tire or losing 2 track days on a set of race tires...
