The stock one that came on the Z06 and Z-51 equipped coupes/verts is fine. Run a good synthetic fluid ( I run Redline) and swap out what's in the reservoir every few events. Having an underdrive pulley helps with accessory life as well (turns the pump a bit slower). I have an ATI Superdamper 10% underdrive on my car.

Turn one and a 25% underdrive. No need for additional cooler for me.

I've got my turn1 pump on the shelf waiting to go in. They recommended Gibb's fluid for it.

I run the Turn One pump with the standard cooler using Joe Gibbs synthetic fluid as recommended by T1. Ran all last year including two events with ambient temps above 100 deg. No problems at all, never overheated or boiled the fluid. Change fluid annuually when I do the tranny and diff.

If any of you drive your car both on the track and on the street occasionally, do you notice a difference in the steering wheel being harder to turn when parking or at idle? I've heard the Turn One units pump a lower volume of fluid.

I have one of their track oriented pumps on my C5Z06 and yes, steering effort did go up, particularly at low RPM.

Since I added the under drive at the same time, I can't relate what the pump alone offers. I suspect it's the same. The pump is made using the same housing as OEM. The big difference was the pulley. It was somewhat noticeable when I first got it, but I don't even notice it any more. A slightly higher effort required as a DD, but really not an issue for me.

YMMV,

John

Same here with my C6. It is certainly something that you can live with, even on a DD.

I bought the T-One pump (as I recall the higher pressure pump)four years ago for my '98 coupe with no cooler. The steering feel didn't change and after 40 + days AX and RR, I've had zero issues. Big believer in this product.
I've been running 285 Hoosiers in the front.

Scott,

Tell the guys at Turn1 that you want the low volume pump. When I called they tried to talk me out of it because of reduced assistance at parking space speeds. You will only notice it if you are in the habit of cranking the wheel real fast when the car is stopped or barely moving. The low volume pump will reduce temps all by itself. Running Pirelli slicks at Watkins Glen (still waiting for your Trackmasters visit ) I no longer have any PS issues. I did my pump 3 years ago.

What's the fluid capacity of the OEM system? Looking to swap to Redline fluid first then if still boiling move to the T1 pump.

What's the best way to remove all of the OEM fluid from a C6?

T1 sold me 2 quarts of Gibbs fluid to go with the pump. Disconnect the return line with the car in the air, and turn the wheel side to side until no more fluid comes out. Reattach line and refill.

Which one is the return line? I've always just sucked it out of the reservior with a turkey baster? Car on or off while turning the wheel? I assume off so you don't burn up the PS pump?
