09Z51 Front brake ducts??
Have been considering adding front brake ducts to the car for HPDE. I can see the 3" openings that they attatch to. Are these openings functional, or do I have to remove anything so they flow? And has anyone done any home made front brake ducting? If so, pictures or hints?
BTW, I'm signed up for NASA Homestead March 10,11 if anyone else is going.
Thanks.
Mike.

They are functional, but mainly direct air just to the wheel well. There are kits available by Quantum, DRM, LG, that direct flow to the hubs. Here's the Quantum Touring kit.

You really need to get air from the front of the car and duct it to the brakes with a back plate behind each rotor so the air is forced through the rotor. Several companies provide parts, splitters, ducts, back plate kits etc. The stock openings do very little cooling and if you remove the air dam to reduce front end lift you will get even less air.

z06 brake ducts are dirt cheap and fit right in. all you need to do is cut a bit of the current duct hole in the fender so the new duct will fit, and once positioned, drill a small hole to bolt the duct to the frame
there are many good write ups with pictures available throughout the forum, and its a pretty quick modification that works well.

just add ducting and a holder at the spindle (Quantum kit from lambert)
