Few C5 setup questions for this season
Hey guys,
So it looks I'm cleared to go play on track again. Mostly DE this year to get back into it. I'm doing maintenance and updates on the car. Had a few questions I couldn't readily find answers to searching.
1. I was told that the C6 spindle is the better part to use as it is a better design over the C5 spindle? Supposedly helps with pad tapering, keeping alignment more stable, bearing wear? These things cure world peace too? Is this correct as I'm about to order the C6 part instead of the C5 part. Does it come with bearings or any other parts?
2. SKF bearings. I'm really tempted to order these for the front. Not so sure about rear. At $350 each I'll do the front only for now. Are these things really the **** or will they wear just as fast as the Timkens?
3. I want to replace the springs on my Pfadt Gen 1 coil-overs. Something stiffer, don't care about street use anymore. I will be adding a wing and splitter but still working out the mount details. So something that work with and without aero. I currently have T1 bars but am fine replacing them. The suspension bushings are all Pfadt poly now.
4. Tie rod ends in the rear. Replace them just because? I'm being told by a professional team that these are a weak link and should go every season or two. I've never replaced tie rods or ball joints on this car yet and not had problems that I know of.
5. Rear inside tire wear. I've burned up 2 inside rear tires now, passenger side. Just the opposite of outer edge wear we get with Hoosier. I was told that running -1.4 camber in the rear is probably why and I should move back closer to -1.0. I run 1/16" toe-in on each side. I was told leaving the toe-in alone and just adjusting camber back some.
I miss driving in anger. It's long overdue. I got out maybe twice in each of the last 3 years. At least I got to Watkins Glen and I love that track! Going back this year at least twice!
Thanks, Graham
