coilover rates...what do YOU run?

I've tried a few. I like the LG 700F/600R setup. I accidentally ran them in reverse for a few races (long story) and other than my splitter scraping the track I couldn't really tell any difference and my lap times were about the same . However, since my splitter was scraping, I ordered 800 lb front springs to stiffen up the front and that's when I discovered my mistake when I saw the 600 lb springs in front. I decided to try leaving the 700 lb rear springs and installing the 800 lb fronts. The car handled very well overall and the splitter no longer scraped, but since my shocks are not adjustable, the car bounced around in bumpy sections and lost grip. Now I'm going back to the original 700/600 setup. I don't feel like forking out a bunch of cash for adjustable shocks. Hope that clears everything up!

Even with no aero, my C5Z ran great with the 700/600 springs. But now I'm running my C5Z in T1 and it runs great with that setup too. I don't know why, but the spring rates don't seem to make a huge difference as long as the shocks are matched to what you have. That's been my experience and I've tried several different setups including Pfadt coilovers too.

Do you prefer the LGs over pfadt?
Im trying to figure out what to run while on the track, but dosnt fly off the road when i drive on the street. I will have a full splitter, undertray, and 70" in wing

That makes sense for auto-x with the lower speeds and 2nd gear traction demands.

Well, I would say I prefer the spring rates that came with the LG's. I had the older pfadt coilovers with softer front springs. I also like the clevis style shock mounts with the LG bilsteins, but the downside to me is the very short travel the LG's have and the low ride height. I don't know what your budget is. If it's low then I would keep an eye on the Parts F/S threads and try to find a 2nd hand set of adjustable coilovers. You can get springs pretty cheap. You will probably want to be in the 700-800 lb rate in front and 600-700 in back with full aero. If you have money to burn then get some Penske triples with clevis style mounts and whatever springs you want. You can compensate for softer springs with stiffer sway bars and visa versa. When in doubt, run the T1 sway bars.

I was just looking at the GT2s as well. But when i mentioned to the vendor what i had, they suggested the GT1 coils. He said the gt 2's were a good beginner type.street shock

Moton ClubSport Double Adjustable Coilovers - Eibach 700# rear 800# front
I had the penske 7200's and I just couldn't get any spring rate to feel right but when I got the motons, they feel great with the above rates.

I am running the LG GT2's, they come with 700 front and 600 rear. I discussed with LG about changing spring rates when I put aero on the car, they recommended going 800 frt and 700 rear. I decided to go with what I had. I have only one race with the aero, but my initial impressions are that it is not going to be necessary to increase the spring rates. At 147 mph I had no issues at all, I have high speed photos of the car at 125mph with very little change in static height front or rear....

If you are running a lot of aero then you will really need to step up to the LG GT coilover. The GT2 is a excellent entry level coilover and it sounds that you are past that. So we really recommend moving up to the GT. These are build to order coilovers so we would need a lot more info from you to set these up for your car.
Thanks

Well this will blow everyone's mind..........
Nothing like having what you need instead of just buying what everyone else is using.
I decided a long time ago if I wanted to be competitive (assuming I could drive) the only place I wouldn't make a compromise was on the shocks and springs. I also run the Penske 8760's and Hyperco springs.
The shocks/springs are tied with the tires for the most important parts on a race car to go fast in my opinion.
Tires and springs/shocks make the difference! Get this right on an ST2 car and you won't need but a tiny bit of aero to be at the top of the pile

Yes, that is what I have noticed going to the T1 car. It has tremendous grip with no aero and the springs are relatively soft with stiffer sway bars. GM set it up quite well. The stiffer front rates on the LG coilovers help a bit I think and you will need stiffer springs with downforce. But I wouldn't stress too much between 100 lbs plus or minus as long as the shocks are valved (or adjustable) for your springs.
