Maybe My next road race Vette Project????
Still Thinkin' of doing a tube frame '69 Road Race Corvette (Vert with hardtop) similar to the Owens Corning L88 cars. I was considering leaving the Vette center section of the frame to keep it still sorta corvette, but it would be easier and lighter to just do it full GT-1 style.
Would build it with a carb 427 LS motor, Jerico 4 speed, live axle 9" Nascar rear end. Three link with a watts link rear suspension. I would keep it period correct externally by using 15" wheels and maybe the 15"Nascar modified tires. Brembo brakes and Penske shocks.
The front tube clip would be the Howe racing clip as used on the trans am TA2 cars, with coilovers, SWEET rack etc.
Have to sell a couple of my other racers to do this, but maybe someday.
Would look something like this outside:

These will have Trans Am type chassis' but will utilize World Challenge type suspension with the billet dropped spindles, coilovers, etc. and will stock Corvette tranny and rear (well, W/C style gearboxes etc)
They will have ACP wide bodies.
So basically, a Trans Am car but with World Challenge running gear

There are two tube frame C6 racers under construction by Woody at Bemco Fab in Florida right now for a customer out west.

Find a way to put a '69 roadster body with some L88 flares on it and it's even better than what I had in my head.

Why not a Jerico RR 5 speed?
Any idea were to find one of those used?
I have stood in Riggins' shop looking at Dave's new car and thought of how cool it would be to have him build me a new, tube frame, C2 or C3. Then I asked how much a new car costs and realized I would have to get those right six numbers on Lotto or Powerball.............but it's a nice dream till I wake up.

Because IMO there is little to no advantage in using independent on relatively smooth, mostly flat road courses, plus I feel they are a decided disadvantage relative to cost, complexity and reliability.
I am not saying indy types aren't fast......they are, just not necessary.
Look at how fast Trans Am cars are with a 9" Ford rear end, and they rarely break.

Bosco, your killing me. Your car is done and your looking for the next one, I can't even get mine done. Hopefully mine will be finished by the time you finish your second one. I should have just built a tube chassis car like you did instead of the WC car.

I had almost all the parts layin around, so putting it together to sell.
This is gonna be a nice road racer. I'll be tempted to keep it.
It should have been done, but I decided to change to the new front clip. Took it back apart.
Also have a ASA Delco stock car to convert/restore to sell. Willbe a nice GTA car. ex Mike Waltrip Racing.
When we are done with these, I'll probably do the 69 project.

Bosoco, do you have to run the 5.5" clutch with the Jerico? They really die in autocrossing and street applications!
I cannot afford the Jerico, but think they are likely the most bulletproof of the 5 speeds. That and I have not recognized any of the other ones that I talked with at the PRI Show having a road race shift pattern (1st and reverse opposed and 4th-5th opposed). Maybe next year I will seek them out at PRI. That place gives me sensory overload.
For now it will have to be the Muncie that came with the car.
