SOOOO I have watched the new Goodyear RS AC tires from the sidelines and decided to try them this year so I just ordered a couple sets for my Z. Anyone running these? What tires pressures for a SS class Z06? I hear they love high pressures. 43 front 40 rear.

Are those the DOT-Rs?

If so, like Hoosier Goodyear tells you to run higher pressures when in fact they run faster and last longer at lower pressures than recommend.

Try 33 cold front - You are probably looking for approx. 40-41hot

Try 32 cold rear - You are probably looking for approx. 39-40 hot

These should give you good starting point. Adjustments based upon corner balance (whether you are approx. 51/49 (front/rear) and track. Temps should let you make slight adjustments from there.

You will find that AC's like approx. the same pressures as RS's.

You will be happy with AC's.

Have you been running them on the track? They seem like they would be good auto-x tires (very soft), but they corded very quickly when I ran them in a race. I was running hoosier pressures so maybe that was a factor? I was shooting for around 30 psi hot.

I ran them a few weeks ago in CA (Chuckwalla).

I found at those approx. pressures they qualified better than I expected.

I also found that they tended to go away about the same amount and time frame as A6's in a 30 min event. You also have to balance this on the course (17 turns in 2.7 miles), car setup and driving style. There was no cording or uneven wear after a 30 min race.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll give them another try at higher pressures. They were fast tires while they lasted.

I think the course, car setup, HP (ST2 or T1 would probably do better than ST1 cars) and driving style will determine whether AC's will work in a 30-40 min event. On some courses if you get out front initially it is hard to pass.

I am presently leaning towards qualifying with AC's and racing with RS's.

Great info. Thanks. The one guy who ran them most of last year for autocross said they did not fall off like the Hoosiers. They had good grip until they corded. My Z06 is really easy on tires. I have to throw away Hoosiers with grooves as they are heat cycled out at 120 runs or so. Nice choice of car redtop!
