Default My race against a ZL1.

I know I probably sucked you in with that title. My apologies...take your click back if you like. But I need your help...

My buddy who lives in West Palm, Fl. is getting a ZL1 sometime in the next couple of weeks. I have a Base C6 with w/ Pfadt Johnny O' suspension and Pirelli P-Zero tires and live in Washington.

We want to meet at a halfway point (Nebraska) and race each other. We are scheduled for the memorial day week to meet. First we want to drag race each other...First race with all his nannies on, then a race with all of it off. My only advantage will be driving experience and him not being able to launch a 580hp car. I think I can take him if he turns off the launch control. Either way I have nothing to lose and should be fun.
The other cars that will be part of the fun will be a Mustang GT (lightly modified) and a Dodge SRT8. I'm not to worried about these 2.

Then we want to do an HPDE, but notice Mid America Motorplex is down due to flooding or something sometime ago. Is there another track in the vicinity that we can take our challenge to? Any suggestions?

On a side note...we have a bet that he can't kick a 32 yard field goal. Remeber the Ravens this year when the kicker blew the kick to lose the game? He's a 46 year old over weight man...I think I got this one. haha

I appreciate any help...

Yer mom weighs 2 tons...

Sorry, couldn't resist

To the OP, how are you planning to "race" at an HPDE? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I wouldn't want to let most people loose in my car, but would you swap cars at the track to take the driver out of the equation?

I'll let him kick that ball till he pulls a hamstring!! lol

Yeah...I dont want anybodies car to get damaged since we are all so far from home. Its about having fun.
You'll get a kick out of this...his daily driver is a KIA OPTIMA HYBRID, other than a chevy truck with a V8 that he once had, that is as close to a muscle car he has ever had.

So would you all recommend Mid America track as the place to be for our get together. Is there others in the area? Thanks

MAM should be up and running. Call them to confirm. The only other tracks in the area are Topeka, KS and Kearney, NE.

Running a road course won't prove much at all. At least about the cars. It may tell you who is the worst driver though.

I usually run with a lot of Ferraris at Homestead. They other weekend we had a flock of 458 Challenge cars. Some were dead slow. Others were blindingly fast. Keep in mind these were all the same car. Some people could drive them others couldn't.

We used to experience the same thing in Chumps. Most of the cars had 4 or 5 drivers. During one stint a car would blow by you like a rocket. Next stint you would fly by the same car. Different driver though.

If it's a 2011 or 12 GT you may be surprised.

Beware of the red mist! If either of you gets a little too aggressive and you could end up totaling a car a long way from home w/ no insurance....
Sounds like a really bad idea to me.

Going to be a wait now. ZL1 production and delivery has been postponed for weeks due to quality assurance checks.
