Default timing chain damper...you use one?

I have one sitting on the work bench at home and have the engine all opened up. Wondering if i should use it. I see that GM discontinued the part so i didnt know if it was a good thing or bad. i will be running an ATI pulley with a C5R chain.

thanks!

No. My block didn't have the holes in place and I didn't want to deal with drilling/tapping them with the engine in the car.

I see there is an LS6 PN for it, but i never knew LS6s to have them. Wasnt this a new item on the LS3 and LS7s?

I think some of the late 2004s came with them. All my C5Z06s have been 2001s and the blocks aren't drilled for them. Some of the later castics had the holes already there.

A MUST HAVE as far as I'm concerned. Not having one cost me a lot of money. Problem is the LS1 dampers were/are not available for purchase at any price. I went to the effort to convert a LS2 damper for my LS1 motor. Here's my story:

Rick

P.S. If you have an OEM LS1 tan damper on the bench lock it up. They're worth their weight in gold. MANY people will buy from you. You'll have a bidding war.
