Simon Gregg & Derhaag Motorsports take two at CMP in Crane Cams V8SC with pics
Simon Gregg driving the Derhaag Motorsports V8 GT-1 Corvette took both rounds of the Crane Cams V8 StockCar points races at Carolina Motorsports Park. The series was running with the South Carolina Region SCCA. Gregg, the son of the late, great sports car racer Peter Gregg led wire to wire both days. Gregg lost his most serious competitor, Dave Machavern and his Riggins Engineering silohuette Falcon, when Machavern decided he was not fully recovered from a non racing neck & back injury and pulled out after Friday's test session. Machavern aggravated the injury during the test.
Gregg leads the series V8 GT-1 points race as we head to Daytona, May 5&6, where a heated battle is expected from GT-1 fast guys Gregg, Jeff Emery in his winged late model stock car, Charles Wicht in a Rocketsports Corvette, Machavern and Bill Riddell in Riggins Falcons, Bob Borders in a Corvette and others.
Gregg's Corvette is prepared by long time Trans Am Competitor Jim Derhaag and the team celebrated 57 straight races without a DNF this weekend. The car is a high tech 2800 pound tube frame racer with more than 800 HP.

Wayne Cabaniss ran well in his old tube frame C4 cutting some good laps. His little 331 ci small block chevy was making some pretty good smoke.
