Default SCCA SSP or SSM?

If you have coil overs on a C6 base coupe? Car was not built to be auto-x competitive, just want to play in the correct class.

Thanks.

No, coilovers on a C5 or C6 put you in SSM. Springs can be changed in SSP, but must be the same type as oem and use the same mounting points.

Good luck!

+1 ON THAT. I didn't know that as well.

I'm guessing that I never thought about it since I see other cars with Coil-overs, but our cars have the leafs.... D'OH!

Ok, bumping an old *** thread because I have a similar question.

I typically run in CAM-S in my cammed, bolt on C6 grand sport. I also have shocks and front sway bar.

I recently purchased R888r (100TW) tires. This should be fine for SSP correct? Not sure what would bump me to SSM. No plans on coil overs. Not trying to be competitive, just class legal.

TIA

EDIT: Appears aftermarket cam may put me in SSM.

And per the November Fastrack, they'll be legal in ST as well. But the aftermarket cam will put the car in SSM anyway.

Coil overs are legal in SSP for 2020. I know multiple people who did the conversion this year, including me.

2020 Solo Rules
15.M. For cars originally equipped with transverse leaf springs, spring type may be changed to a coil spring. Spring perches may be added to shock absorbers for mounting coil springs in a “coilover” configuration.

The Camshaft will bump you to SSM.

Thanks for the info. Sucks nobody in the Houston region runs in the Super Street or CAM-S classes but will throw some 200TW tires on for 2021
