g-Force Sport COMP-2- I'm hearing good things. You?
A buddy did a ride and drive. Said they hooked up VERY well. Anyong checked these tires out? I'm looking for a street tire that may be competative in a street tire class for autocrossing.
What sucks is that all the guys in this class traler their "Street Tires" to the events. I think that is BS.
Has anyone reviewed the new g-Force Sport COMP-2?

I thought Handkok Rs-3 and Nitto Nt05 where the best street tires for C5/C6 now?
I'd love to find a 200-250 treadwear rating tire that gave me good dry traction but allowed me to actually use 1st gear at least when new. Looking to replace my old GY F1 Supercars.
Glad to hear BFG is in the game, I'd like to buy domestic if possible.

I had the old G-Force Sports on my DD/track GTO and liked them a lot. I only used them on track in the rain (I ran NT01s in the dry) but they held up very well. I can't speak to their competitiveness though.
I was looking at Tire Rack and it looks like the widest 18" is a 275. Wouldn't that be a problem for autox?

TTT- Looking for best tire with UTG of 200 or above for a street tire race in Bowling Green KY. The Holley LS Fest is on my mind.

I'd think the Kumho XS would be the best for dry traction over the BFG. Tread wear of 180 and many positive reviews on the tire.
The Continental Extreme Contact DW seems to be THE rain tire for auto-x.

Looking forward to it. Well at least 2nd place is still open.
Do they pay out for 2nd? I enjoyed getting cash at our last race.
180 means a big fat No-Go..... Must be 200 or above.

Sorry, I though we where talking SCCA Solo II rules which allow for as low as 140 for street class tires.

They do very well IMO once you figure out what pressure they like. I start the session at 31/26. If you start the pressure to high, the car slides around and the pressure goes up, slide around and it just keeps getting worse.
Mine have 40 sessions on them and still may get 4 or more out of them.
IMO for the money they are hard to beat.
I might try the RT615K next to compare.

Like you I was looking for a street / Time Trial tire and considered three tires: Falken Azina RT-615, BFG KD and the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.
BFG KD was top of my list. However, availability on the 305-315 sizes are spotty. The main advantage to the KD over the tires like the Falken Azina RT-615 (which I also considered) is consistency. Slightly longer life due to the harder compound. It's more suitable to heavy cars like Corvettes. Cost is $255 for fronts and just over $300 for the rears. If I was not doing Time Trials I would choose the KD first. The tire drains water well so forget about the KDW or Sport version. The KD was the A/X street tire of choice until the RT-615 came out. I chose this tire over the RT-615 because I tend to run my car very heavy most of the time- full tanks and passenger.
I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Biggest advantage is the wide selection of sizes going down to 17" They still come in 335/17 as well as 275/17. If you buy a Porsche GT2/GT3 or an M3 this is what you will get. I am now married to a 17" rim size and this is the tire of choice. Depending on how may track events you do, expect to last about 30K. . A friend had these on his '92 LT1. They are a great tire but he found it tricky to drive at the limit. Others have observed the same, but these designs are always updated. Perfect street tire in that they are quiet, great in the rain, great response, and very capable on track (up to a limit). This is a high end OEM tire so all this can be expected. Down side is cost: $300 for the fronts and over $400 for the rear. I 17's rims, so for me this is an easy choice. Ran them at Lightning two weeks ago and I was impressed.
