Simon Gregg & Derhaag Motorsports take round 1 of Crane Cams V8 StockCar @ Daytona
Ponte Vedra, Florida's Simon Gregg took the first of two Crane Cams V8 StockCar points races at Daytona yesterday wheeling his V8 GT-1 Corvette prepared by Trans Am Series legend Jim Derhaag. Gregg who led every lap was challenged early on by father and son Kenny and Jordan Bupp. Jordan got by dad Kenny on lap one and hung onto Gregg's bumper in the opening laps before fading a bit with brake issues.
Kenny Bupp took over second and the trio finished the race as they qualified. Gregg had a fast lap of 1:48 and change despite the 90 degree heat. Kenny Bupp, the veteran of many IMSA Camel GT, and Trans Am campaigns was driving his Hamilton Safe Camaro, while son Jordan was in a Corvette.
the event is sanctioned and hosted by the Central Florida Region SCCA.
