Race Tape numbers on dark colored car?
I know lots of folks use that blue painter's tape for putting numbers on the door of the car for race events. And I have plenty of that kind of tape around the house. But I'm wondering how well it will contrast with my Navy Blue C5 where you will be able to see the numbers. On a white or gray car they would stand out easily, not so much on mine.
Anyone have suggestions on other options? This is where having non-metal doors is a bummer cause you can't get those spiffy race number magnets and just toss them on the side.

Autocross of road course?
You can buy static cling numbers, good for lower speed. I bought reusable vinyl numbers for road course. I have also used masking tape on my black Z.

I had a local sign/graphics shop make up some static-cling 8" high numbers. They said they could do any Windows font in a choice of 15 colors.
The vinyl is clear and they have lasted 6 years so far for both autocross and track days. The trick with static-cling is to have the surface of the car panel clean and free of any grit or stuff like road tar. Then spray the area with water and lay the static cling over the water. Use something like a credit card or even a paint stirring stick to push the water and air pockets out.
That keeps the vinyl on pretty tight to where you have to use a fingernail to peel up an edge. I rounded the corners on my pieces to keep them from peeling.
The static cling pieces come on a paper backer with a plastic coated side. Just lay the static clings on that plastic and roll up when hot in use.

Get a roll at Home Depot and cut your own. They go on and pull off easy. Make sure whatever font style you choose is thick though as the thinner styles are more difficult to work with. Also avoid sharp corners on the insides of letters. Cut a radius at the corners instead.

Are you sure you will need numbers if doing a track event? All but one of the HPDE groups that I instruct with pre-assign your number and provide it to you when you get to the event. That way they have control of the car numbers thus reducing confusion by flag station workers when they have to call a car number in for a black flag or meatball.
