Default R compound tire with a nail in it

okay so yesterday I picked up a self threading bolt in my R compound tire. I have not pulled it out yet, but my question is can I repair the tire? the bolt is on the tread. Will a patch work on a R compound tire that is used for autoX?

Yes, I have patched many. Autox ok. Probably would not track it though. I will confess I have tracked a patched tire a couple of times with an high quality off the rim combo patch/plug. I ck it every session.

For what it's worth, I've tracked patched tires before. Not R compounds but shouldn't make a difference. Nothing bad happened but this is a sample size of one.

I had a 12mm hex bolt go thru a rear once. Unscrewed the bolt, plugged the tire and drove home on it. I raced on that tire until the cords showed. Top speed on track might be 120 -130 back then.

Everyone has a different comfort level and opinion on this subject.

If the cords were broken, a patch or plug won't change that.
