I want to take my car to the track !
I recently purchased an '09 C6 M6 with Z51 package. I had a '97 C5 prior to this and I would love to take my C6 to the track. I live in western N.Y. and I see that there is a track in Ohio called Nelson Ledges that has a Fun day where you can take your car and track it.I'm not out to prove anything I just want to have fun and see how the car can run. I just have a couple of questions,
1 - Is this a good place to start and have a good time ?
2 - I have like new G/Y supercar tires (EMT) up front only 2k miles on them . The rears are the same but are down to 2/32's in the middle of the tire. Wlill the rears be ok for what I am going to do.
3 - brakes have about 50% of the pads left. will that be enough for the track and to make it home ?
4 - I see on the forum that there are drivers/instructers that will ride with you if you want to try to help you out at different tracks. Is this true everywhere?
Thanks for any help you can offer !

Ive been to NL many times. Its ok but very bumpy. Their fun days are Not driving schools, you would be better served attending an event that focuses on teaching so you learn proper technique. There are many, many opportunities much closer to home for you than NL. Look up NASA north east for one, also the various BMW and Porsche clubs in the region. I will be at New Jersey Motorsports Park June 23rd with Trackdaze.com, they have a good instruction program, come join us.

If you're open to coming to Joliet, IL, this event is perfect for new Corvette owners.
Plenty of track time, and 1/3 the usual participants for a stress-free time. There are a lot of events and most are concerned about making a profit, this one isn't. Throw in the VIP list of who's coming and it's perfect for a guy in your situation. I can have one of the GM Corvette team members instruct/ride with you.

You should go to a school that has classroom instruction and in car instructors. I will be instructing at one later this month (25th/26th) at the Glen which is closer to you than NL. They will also be holding another event near the end of August. The school has a trial program where you get one classroom session and one on track session to give you a small taste of a driving school. The novice group is closed at this time but the status page indicates there is one trial program opening still available.
