Default Another day at Laguna, another ACR...

Back at Laguna on 6/17 with CFRA. Short video from a session where I get trapped behind a GT-R that didn't want to let me by (gotta say those beasts really hook up out of the slow corners), and there was a Viper ACR out there that was, well, interesting to follow...

Nice driving Gary
That GTR is fast down the straights
That Viper needs a wing adjustment

What a great track. I had an opportunity to turn some laps on a motorcycle there and my dumbass turned it down. Guy in the Viper is a mess. I saw some Viper days when I used to go up to Pocono, spins were a pretty regular thing for those guys.

Great video and driving.

Viper was extremely twitchy! That the norm or just driver error? Or inherent with those cars?

Are you 100% stock on RA1's? You were out braking the GTR all day. Impressive!

Yeah, I didn't talk to the Viper guy, I wonder if the tires were shot. They have no driver aids, I do know that, so you have to have a gentle right foot...

I do have StopTechs. Other than that, bone stock except for safety gear.

I went from an '03 Z06 to an '02 Viper, just for the street, never on track. The Viper was much harder to push, the power comes on very smooth and fast, but it's deceptive. I don't know if it's because of the 10 cylinders, but you just didn't feel like you were accelerating that hard, then next thing you know it's spinning. Very little in between. It was wicked fast and fun to drive around town but I can imagine it'd be a handful at the track.

To his credit it looks like he nailed the corkscrew and the following two turns!

Good job in the car Gary. Nice car control.

I spent two seasons in a GTR. You are a superior driver than the person driving the one you were following for awhile. He should have let you by much, much sooner. I guess he thought that his newly installed turbo kit and tune would eventually make him quicker through the corners.

Interestingly my Brother in Law is carefully considering an ACR purchase and at this time has bids on 4 cars so I am pretty sure it's just a matter of time when he get's the proper deal and has one. I am excited to drive it when he does.

I am sure Buckeye Z06 could impart some wisdom here on how challenging they are to go quick in. I would love to hear his thoughts about it.

No, there were two the same color, just to add to the confusion. One was much slower and would wave a faster car by with no delay. The faster one would never give a wave-by, you just had to make the pass somewhere...

Nice driving Gary

Do you heel-and-toe on your downshifts? You sure make it look easy! Nice job.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I heel and toe the downshifts, that's always a good idea to avoid upsetting the car.
