Default Corvette World Tribute at Road America August 19, 2012

Once again Road America will have a Corvette World tribute August 19, 2012.

I know the rumors are that it will be cancelled because of the possibility of Indy Car taking the date.

I have been promised that it will happen with or without Indy car. I was also asked to help promote the event. If it is cancelled don't hate me. I believe it will happen.

The possibilty still remains that it will become a multi day event like last year.

As of today the schedule is not done. There will be HPDE, Touring and race car sessions with a race.

I will keep up to date on this thread with new details and registration.

Cheers
Todd

I was there last year; pretty cool event with lots of Chevy support; very unstructured HPDE... hope they tighten it up a bit for this year for safety's sake.

Only one class so drivers of various skills were on track at the same time. I was coming up fast on the front straight and someone had been cleared to enter the track; blend line violations can be spooky. I came up on a C5 that had hit the wall with significant damage past the kink and the driver was walking on the track outside the car. I realize that at that type of event the HPDE plays a lesser role in the scheme of things but it makes you see how well run HPDEs make a better safety example.

I know where you can buy a car (with Owens-Corning history) that went 2:25.0 in 2005...send a PM if you have lots of money.

Any more news on this event? I contacted RA months ago asking for details, and have not heard anything. I attended last year and enjoyed it greatly, but I don't think this year will be near as entertaining as last year. (If the event actually takes place).

Registration will open next week. Still no word if it will be motorsportreg.com or via roadamerica.com.

It will be a one day event Sunday August 19, 2012.

Three groups of cars, Race, HPDE and touring. The bad news is as of today everbody only gets two sessions. That can still change as there is room in the schedule for more.

9:00-9:30am Race cars qualifying
9:45-10:15 HPDE
10:45-11:15 Race cars, RACE
11:30-12:30 Touring
1:00-1:30 HPDE
2:30-3:15 Touring
3:30-4:15 HPDE

Please don't complain to me about the schedule. Post your thoughts here.

Car show, karting, autocross, road rally and much more happening during the day. Should be a great fun event.

this is not being run by the same people as last year. Last year registryofcorvetteracecars.com put the show on. This year it looks to be Corvette clubs.

mbeckers is right. The view isn't worth the climb.
Too bad. Last year we had time on the track four different days. If it was the same gig, I would be there.

Heck, if you are going anyway then tow the Vette along. What's a few less highway MPGs.
